That's pretty good, not that i'd ever buy one but it's still nice that they won't raise the price

That's interesting. Why the decline in the CAD?

The Bank of Canada decided to drop the dollar by 10 cents to keep its key interest rate steady, yet try to lower inflation. Thats what I see from articles I look up
http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/canadian-dollar-drops-half-a-cent-after-bank-of-canada-rate-decision-1.1648644

The Bank of Canada connot fix the exange rates of the currency as it is speculation that affects its value. The drop as to do with the american dollar going up, our interest rates staying low (due to the Bank of Canada) and primary ressources being sold below expectations due to a low chinese economic activity (they buy lots of our primary resources).

Good on them to not try to strangle growth with a higher interest rate, though i fail to see where inflation is a problem anywhere in the West right now.

People are still having a hard time paying their bill on time, so inflation would be really really bad in that situation since it would mean more people filing for bankruptcy.

No excuse here. This is a stupid decision by Sony. Raising the price of a console is unheard of.

The poor company is struggling to survive. They need to do everything they can to make money. Besides, selling the PS4 at the old price might have been losing them money.

North America needs a single currency. Canada and the US are both each others largest trading partners so it makes sense to do so. Also Mexico is USA's third largest trade partner. This can eliminate the problems caused by currency fluctuations.

As an exporting country, Canada is better off with a lower CAD than USD, since it means they will buy our cheaper products/ressources. What was abnormal was the CAD being over the USD, not good for our manufacturers. Now that said, it wouldn't be good also if it was to go under the 90 cents bar, since we still have to import stuff. I would not like to give the US goverment or its Federal reserve bank the power play in our economy. I don't think that the american banking system is trustworthy enough for a single currency. I rather keep the canadian goverment and authorities in charge of that department. I also think that all the US security laws in the transport department has hurt more our exanges at the borders than the currency fluctuations...

Does someone know where the PS4 is manufactured? It could explain the change in price. Before saying its because of the USD, we should check if its manufactured there... If not then it because of the CAD vs YEN, not USD vs CAD.

That won't help at all since it is a higher currency than everywhere else. If anything, it hurts Sony.
