Forums - Gaming - Why don't you just use trumotion and make every game 60fps?

Yea i've got a 55 inch Sony with 240hz and Motionflow 480. It makes bf3 feel like its running at 45-50fps, far smoother than it would be originally. Too bad i dont get to play on it that often as everyone's always watching it :(

But my Samsung 32 inch (latest model) has 120hz trumotion but doesnt really make a difference to be completely honest.

Input lag.

I got the KDL55W900A.  Sony's newer tvs are the best you're going to get if you're a gamer who wants a large hdtv because the input lag is ridiculously low for such a large size in comparison to the alternative.  19ms on game mode.  However when not on game mode, the input lag is noticeable.  It's like playing on my other hdtv while on game mode.

I made three set ups for my tv.  One with the best picture I could on game mode, one with the best picture I could with everything off, and one with the best picture I could with clear which seems the smoothest setting on the tv without making everything really dark.  Game mode degrades the image quality very slightly and gaming on clear looks amazing, but it looks amazing while introducing noticeable input lag to me.

I can't game without Trumotion/Motionflow anymore.

Well I can, but it hurts my eyes.

wat is trumotion

It's called something different for every manufacturer, but it's 240hz mode.  You know how quick moving scenes on an HDTV in movies it might look like it skips frames or juddery.  It'll make everything smooth and remove the judder.

Technical term is motion interpolation. On one hand, it makes games look very smooth. On the other hand, it makes them unplayable.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect responsivity in the least. The reason I'm not going to even try is that my monitor simply doesn't support it and because I'm mainly a PC gamer nowadays.

It gives a very weird sensation when you turn it on tho, like its smooth, but sped up somehow, cant put my finger on it, but i sure as hell dont like it.

Nvidia's G-Sync is the better solution, seen that in real life and the difference is stunning, but i have doubts that tech will ever make it into all TVs as standard.

Truemotion adds more frames to the picture. But that will surely cause artefacts when gaming because of the prediction it does. Eitherway, trumotion fails when there are fast scenes such as transformers or others. Shouldn't work on pc/console either cause it would have to buffer the next image and the add frames in between. Only possible on 24 fps movies where the content is buffered/delayed. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
