Forums - Sony - Rebought a PS3 (4th PS3)

This my 4th PS3...

1st One- Stolen (fack them, it was the MGS4 edition which was Backwords Compatible and had 4 USB ports, and 80 gigs)

2nd one- Replace the stolen one, gave it to brother when I deployed to Iraq in 2010 (bought a gaming laptop, which worked out well to be honest)

3rd One- gave it to other brother when I bought PS4... regretting since I had not played alot of good games (GTA5, the last of us, you get the picture)

4th One- bought it today. Picked up Valkerie Chronicles and Star Ocean: The Last Hope Internation. I love the PS4 but it hit me that most JRPGs dont come for the 1st few years of a console. and I love JRPGs.  Once I beat the 2 games I bought plan on getting the 2 tales of games. Anything I am missing? I am still convinced GTA5 will be ported to PS4 and XB1, but if it is not I will get that too.

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Yeah I've bought 2 PS3's and sold both of them and now regret it. I'll probably have to go back and buy a 3rd so I can play Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remake and Persona 5.

Yep been 12 years since I beat FFX, could definitly give a remake a go. Never played X-2 so it seems like a no brainer. Am debating Tales of Symphonia: Chronicles, Its been 8 years or so since I beat that game (maybe even 10 years cant remember) but I remember the story clearly so I think I might hurt my perception of it. In the case of FFX literally the only thing I remember is it was the 1st FF without a true overworld, blitzball was fun, and that part with the lighting hitting you are you move about the area map, beyond that I only remeber the chars and almost none of the backstory (cept Auron is not technically alive or real, ah cant remember...)

The 40GB MGS4 PS4 was the first one that didn't allow backwards compatibility. You may have got MGS4 with it not bundled.  As soon as they launched 40GB PS3s, the 80GBs were the only bc ones, and as soon as those were gone there was no more bc.

No, it was the last with backwords compatibility. I bought it in June 08. 3 months later the only SKUs you could get were 80gb no BC and 2 USB and 40GB same.

 

It came with MGS4. I clearly remember this because I dont really like MGS in general but I knew if I wanted BC (had a broken PS2 and a treasure trove of games for it) I had to get the MGS4 bundle. I played MGS4 for like maybe 1 hour then said f it. I gave MGSone like 2. god I hate stealth games.

It took you the 4th ps3 to pick up Valkyria Chronicels (spelt it wrong btw)?! Thats messed up equally so if you havent picked up Demon's Souls. Well now you can get hyped up for Dark Souls 2!!!

I know I know..... I love SRPGs too. I really am ashamed I just now got VC. I still have not played it, beating Star Ocean 1st (I must it so far it is pretty darn good, a must buy for a JRPG fan)

Well maybe there was a different MGS4 bundle.  I'm remembering the Gun Metal Grey 40GB PS4 that came out and didn't include bc. 

Anyways, since you like RPGs, here are games I'd recommend that are RPG like. 

Dragon's Crown, Oblivion, Yakuza, Tales of Graces, Tales of Xillia, White Knight Chronicles 2, Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, Demon's Souls, and Dark Souls.

Dragon Age Origins is an amazing game but I would recommend the PC version over consoles.

Some non RPGs. 

The Saboteur, Mirror's Edge, Infamous 2, LBP2, Arkham Asylum, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Lords of Shadow,  DMC series, Ico/SotC, and the Uncharted series.
