Forums - Sales - Theory based on prelim numbers : Manufacturing issue ps4?

So the week after the launch of the ps4 in japan we have it sitting at +-170.000 units sold in the week, when we convert this on a 4 week month this is barely 700.000 units a month? Before there were numbers of 1.4 million and 1.1 thrown around, atleast we can say these were off alot.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

You are aware they started producing months before launching the Playstation 4?

Unless someone knows for certain how many units they're producing, there's no way to know. The 1.4, 1.2, 700k etc are all rumors and speculation. Only Sony knows how many units they're making so it could be that they're not making enough or it could be that they're having issues with manufacturing. My guess is they just didn't expect this much demand. They say it'll be stabilized by April, that's 6 months or so after launch, so perhaps they've chosen to increase production for the rest of the year to lead up into the holidays.

But I know as much as everyone else, A.K.A. nothing at all.

I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with the 400,000 PS4s sold in the last two weeks in Japan.

They sold about 900k in February and around the same in January. The numbers are not too far off.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I agree there is manufacturing issues but I think this week is especially low, in the next few weeks supply should be sorted out a bit better (perhaps supply is much better in the US right now already). I think we should be seeing around 200k stock per week consistently by the end of March, maybe more.

I think it's more that Sony were surprised by the demand. I would't bother ramping up the supply if I were them though. They expect to be able to meet demand by April and this scarcity is good for the PS4. People want what they can't have.

YIELD ISSUES!!!! oh god no...

If this was not a problem why can't I walk into any of my nearby stores and see a PS4 on the shelfes?
