I'm not sure I'm getting this, there's an article right on the front page right now that says the DS sold 53.4m during the same time as the 3DS is out now, not 64.1m. So where's that number coming from?

End of 2007 vs end of 2013 which gives DS an extra 3-4 months compared to 3DS (DS-Nov/Dec 2004, 3DS-Feb/Mar 2011) so thats why launches aligned shows a difference.

Ah thanks, I see. But that gives the DS an extra holiday season does it not (not that the 3DS would make up a 20m difference anyway) ?

I guess we're not that far away until all phones/tablets have haptic feedback. Though, I doubt that will change the fact that 99.9 % of games on them are utter crap.

Well, with haptic feedback I could actually see good (better) games being made, and I think Nintendo's games would work a helluvalot better with that technology
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
The industry itself is in decline, home consoles, handheld consoles, everything is going down. The industry crash is coming guys!

This might not be the place to post this...
But I believe Nintendogs+Cats would have had a greater impact had it not been a launch title...
I say this for a few reasons, the first being that it didn't help the launch in any significant way...
The second being it didn't help boost awareness...
I can't help but wonder if it would have faired better if it was released after the 3DS had entered public consciousness...
If it was released now, to a larger install base and a public aware of the consoles existence (and accompanied by advertising), I think it would have done the 3DS more favors...
Have a nice day...
