“The thing about Zelda is we want everything to be unique, whether it’s the graphical presentation or the gameplay,” Aonuma tells Nintendo Life.

“It has to be something you can’t see anywhere else. We wouldn’t want it to be ultra-realistic because you can see that elsewhere. But I can’t say that it’s going to be cartoony-realistic like you mentioned, the fantastic presentation that we’ve already done in the past. It will be something new.

I can't wait until Zelda Wii U crushes all of your hopes with it's beautiful and NOT realistic/Twilight Princess/tech demo art style.

It will be something NEW. Get over it.
/fucking thread.

EDIT: I'm hoping for something that looks similar to Journey meets A Link Between Worlds personally, but let's get one thing clear: THE GAME IS CONFIRMED TO NOT BE REALISTIC. And don't bring up "well the tech demo isn't realistic." If Aonuma considers Skyward Sword "cartoony realistic," then he obviously considers the tech demo to not be realistic. Also, the tech demo isn't "something new" like he specifically confirms.

Seems oddly irate for a very civil conversation about what people would like to see or are expecting to see.

I think (Well hope) the majority of the people here already knew that. I know It's going to be new, but I'm asking what people would want.

I should be clear, when I say "realism" I mean like the tech demo, NOT like Skyrim.

These kinds of threads will be what will feul the juvenile backlash at the new Zelda artstyle come E3. That poll proves it, so yeah, it makes me a tad irate.

I can understand that. I can already see it... a few threads about the artstyle with 100+ replies...

That's fair enough but like when it comes to anything like... what the next 3d mario game would be like... Its often cool to speculate on the path they could go down, especially with Nintendo because they have a tendancy to not go down the path people would expect more often than not.

If there is one thing you can be certain of it's that no matter what Nintendo show of the wii-u Zelda game not everyone will be happy with it, heck some people who have no interest in the franchise or who would play any incarnation of it will also claim to be upset they didn't go down one of the infinite paths with the game, you just gotta enjoy it yourself and let the haters hate :)

On one hand, it's been a while since we've had a realistic looking Zelda, and one of those would be welcome. On the other hand, I really like the colors of Wind Waker and Skyward Sword.

I suppose we can't hope for a colorful take on realism? You know, with all the little details and such, but with vibrant primary and secondary colors abound?

This. This right here. This is what they will do. If anyone can do it, Nintendo can, and it will be the best looking Zelda ever.
