Square Enix can't seem to do anything right. :S
Does this mean they got lucky with the power of Lara Croft?

30-50 isn't that much but yes it is sad that expectations and budgets for games are so big now.
Not surprised, the game looked blah and was getting mixed reviews.

Terrible, I loved Deus Ex: Human Revolution and they were a good bunch of developers...

Crystal Dynamics is making Tomb Raider, I don't see how this would affect them.

30-50 isn't really uncommon, after the release of AAA games...
that said, it didn't review well, and since if I remember correctly the studio was structured with about ~2 development teams of around 75 people each, one for thief (which probably isn't a success) and one for deus ex (which was a big sucess).
30-50 people from the thief team doesn't surprising or exactly undeserving. Considering that group had 5+ years to do a game that is decent... but quite shoddy compared to what the other group did.

they're not actually doing that bad, their stock is the highest it's been in 3 years... and they're profiting again. Though basically completely due to FFXIV.
Probably because Thief didn't sell 30 million copies to fit the budget allocated.
Industry (AAA side at least) crash incoming, get the food stocks replenished.
I'm sure MS will offer them jobs, that seems to be their trend lately. Devs sorted out to the left isle work on Gears and devs sorted out on the right isle work on Halo.
