Forums - Sony - PS4 2nd Week Sales in Japan Are 61k (Famitsu #s)

Lower than I expected. Interested to see what supply is like though. If they haven't had a second shipment yet, there ain't gonna be more sales than that.

I also think this is interesting and relevant to the thread:

http://www.siliconera.com/2014/03/03/playstation-4-sold-mainly-university-students-japan/

"Media Create also noted that PlayStation 4 mainly attracted university students on their Spring break at launch. Initial buyers of the console at launch were relatively younger than those of other PlayStation systems."

Around the Network

no stocks, no sales. look at the ps4 second week in NA from 960k to 92k. It was doomed back then and it's doom right now

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

How is this different from other thread? I believe it's just famitsu reporting Sony's statement.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

Sony needs to work with these supply issues... both weeks were to be high.

Needs more games. I expect it to do bad there for a while.

Around the Network

It could be stock issues, or they're interested more in games than hardware. PS4 just doesn't have many games that cater Japanese gamers, unlike the PS3.

PS4 sold 60k in its second week. That was lower than WiiU and Vita second week

There´s no official information about those "stock" issues people insist in talking about, but we all know that Japan is not a big consumer of home consoles, so this drop is no big surprise. We should wait at least two or three months to see how PS4 sales will get stable.

And you forgot to say, japan's holidays are over.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!

Patiently waiting for today's number. ^^

I again doubt it's supply issues. It's demand. But ultimately it doesn't matter. The PS4 is going to win the generation in sales regardless of Japan. Just don't hold out hope of it approaching PS2's insane worldwide numbers.
