This is something Ive been wondering for a while now. Who was the source of the entire disaster that was MS' s announcement / reveal? Was Mattrick the major player in planning the console?

Phil Spencer seems genuine to me and a real gamer so I doubt it was him as hes in charge really of just software. Whose vision was the Xbox One hardware?  Do we know?

Its shocking how massively different the Xbox One is from MS' s original vision.

Don Mattrick deserves to be punched!!!!!

NOW!!!!!!!!!

Nah, it was really more a result of proposing such a radical changes (throwing gamers into the cold water, so to speak), and the mixed messaging of how an all-digital future was supposed to benefit us.

The idea was novel, and now that I've had a few months to think about it, I'm actually interested in figuring out what benefits they had for the old XBO. Their disorganized PR and the fact that no one really knew the benefits sparked outrage and severely damaged them for the time being.

But yeah, Mattrick kind of sucks.

well, vision would primarily come from the leadership no? that would be don right?

...i'm sure there were higher up influences too. i'm sure the decision to use window's 8 wasn't without pressure from the top. not sure about the kinect and DRM decisions though.

I do get the feeling that because he was done with MS after E3 he just didn't give a damn anymore.

Personally, I blame mattrick for the disaster reveal. Whether or not that is fair to mattrick cant really be known. I do know that Mattrick was head of the xbox division durring a time that I thought they werent doing their best, prioritizing kinect over everything else. He was also an executive at EA when they were at their worst. And now he is at zynga... One of the worst companies ever.

Basically, Based on his history, there is nothing to make me think he has done anything good for the game industry. Because of his history i tend to blame him for a lot of microsofts recent missteps.

I'd say Mattrick and Hryb, I'd say were the biggest parts.

Points finger in 4 -5 five directions!!!

We can blame one man, but it is hard to fathom that he had free reign to make so many bad decisions without lots of others drinking from the same bottle.

My sister left M$ recently and she had a pretty high up position in the marketing department. She told me, part of the problem is that their are too many people involved in everything at M$. Everyone that has been there for 10 or more years has an opinion and they seem to carry lots of weight regardless of what their job is.

It is near the end of the end....

I really don't think one man can be the fault of this. They still have to make decisions as a team so the bigger part of it must've agreed and obviously not just him alone.

Him and the people at the top.
