Digital foundry said there is virtually no difference, becasue there is virtually no difference.

Resolution wars are the dumbest wars ever.

You're in most resolution threads, including this one, arguing that there's virtually no difference. I posted a comment that you interpreted as "pro difference" (it's not), and you felt the need to fight back. Keep partaking in the dumbest wars ever I guess.

You actually misunderstood my post completely... totally.

I didnt interpret your post as anything other than as genuinely not knowing the result.

So... I helped by provifing the summary outcome from digital foundry.  No, no... dont apologise, its fine. (last time I give you a code!)

Try not to jump to conclusions based on your own position.

And just becuase I think the discussion on resolution are dumb, pointless and often extremely childish doesnt mean I cant take part if only to point that out.

sure you don't part of the "dumbest wars ever".

Inb4 legally blind individuals claiming that they can't see the difference.

You do have to admire their attempts though.

Last gen so many could obviously see the differences between a PS3 and a 360 title. They could notice everything from frame rate to resolution to the AA used.

Now they see nothing.

Do yourself a favor and get used to it. Through my years here (and just about all gaming forums) I have noticed that arguments always seem to change when it suits the agenda.

Last gen: "I game on X consoles because it has superior multiplats".

This gen: "Who cares if it has the superior multiplats? The differences are negligible and I prefer X controller anyways."

and you arent noticing the exact opposite is also happening then?

I agree, it happens on all sides.

Only a few days ago it was about "value" in a thread. Last gen PS gamers argued value in defense of PS3 high price.

Everything almost seems to have flip flopped, which is why I expect the arguments this gen to almost completely mirror last gen.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

There is a difference only to those who see a difference.

This is so true.

1 min of 1080p 30fps is 128 MB in size.

This movie is 4 min long and  78,5 MB file size

Nope - you can't spot any differences.

Truth is, as with a lot of comparisons, you wouldn't even notice a difference in resolution or fps except in the most extreme situations. If we weren't told, we wouldn't care. Just like that time they secretly switched my high priced coffee with Maxwell House....

Guys I think this video is a shame. Why when it says Pc you still see a blue x button to hit and also at 2:37 say pc but says up on control pad and click right stick?

Feel free to add me to your Ps friends list.

Megid2013

I couldn't see much difference but my laptop is only 720p

Current consoles: Wii U, Gaming PC

Add me on Wii U! Adamjh99

Add me on Steam! GamingByAdam

So you think that because someone is playing with a controller on PC, it is a "shame"?

OR...

Are you implying a conspiration theory here where the guy is not reaaaaaly playing on PC because he is capturing videos on PC while using a controller?

If something is a shame here, it is all those people who claims the differences between 720p and 1080p is a HUGE deal. Esp. when the majority of them cannot even see the differences...

Actually 1 minute of raw 1080p30 is 10.43 GB
At max blu-ray quality it would be 300 MB
128 MB is 17 mbps, still pretty low for RGB footage. (Video is chroma subsampled, 12bpp instead of 24bpp RGB)

78.5MB for 4 minutes is 2.6 mbps.
Indeed if you play it over on-live 900p or 1080p at the source won't make much of a difference.

I don't see how "Digital foundry said there is virtually no difference, because there is virtually no difference" is intended as just providing a summary. The second clause is strange if that was your intention. However I'll take your word for it.

My comment also wasn't about me not knowing the result, but I guess I can see why you thought that. I meant word for word what I said. Youtube compression makes "spot the differences" tests like this pointless. I had already read the DF face off and agreed with their conclusion.

The problem with the "resolution wars" is that the XBOX side of the argument is exactly what you want to point out.
Sony guys: "The difference between 1080p and 900p is huge! It's a really really important part of the gaming experience!"
XBOX guys: "The difference really isn't that big. Plus I play games not resolutions. Who cares? These discussions are stupid."

Even though your not a hypocrite or childish like most others in the "battle," you're still stuck right in with the others on that side of the argument.
