Forums - Gaming - Retro says Wii U is “a powerhouse”, new game has been in the works for a few months

aw shit now I'm hyped for E3 only to get disappointed :P

I'm happy what we thought turned out to be correct though and I can't wait to see what it is. we can rule out them working on MK8 and it can't be another DK game so it is aether Metroid, new IP or maybe starfox :P

Has got to be Metroid.

New Metroid prime + new Zelda unveil = Win at E3.

If that is true and they show awesome gameplay for both then Sony and Microsoft might just have to pack up their shit and leave E3 because that would be way too much hype.

Nope new halo and uncharted 4 would blow those away

It would depend on the direction those titles are headed. If the Metroid Prime title and Zelda titles are dark, mature, polished and gritty, the media would cum in their seats. Most of the people who attend E3 love and root for Nintendo. It's just that Nintendo hasn't delivered for the last serveral years.

I think it could be Star Fox. I also don't think whatever it is, you'll see it for a while as it's almost certainly not coming out until 2016 most likely.

I wouldn't be shocked if its a launch/early gen title for Nintendo's next portable system rather than a Wii U game.

I get two things of this:

1. Their game is far, very very far from release, around 2016 at best
2. It's going to be new and not another DK, Metroid and MK game. Good, maybe even a new IP.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I'm hoping for Star Fox. The series has been in traction for a decade, and Retro has proven itself as one of the best studios at reviving dormant IPs.

I hope is another DKC just to see your reaction.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Lastly, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe has confirmed that Retro Studios is working on a brand new game, and it’s been in development for a few months. As for what it is, Kelbaugh won’t say much.

“We love working with Donkey Kong. It’s a great character. It’s a lot of fun. We love working with Metroid Prime, with Mario Kart; those are fun, fun games to work on. So, you know, you can’t lose,” he said. “Every one of those IPs have been a lot of fun to play with and work on and [we'd] love to come back to them sometime.”

I think this is quite significant. They've been working on a game for several months now, while they would love to "come back to Metroid, Mario Kart and Donkey Kong sometime". This basically confirms their new game is not of one of these IP's, otherwise these statements would contradict. So no Metroid Prime. It could be a new IP, it could be Star Fox. Which would be awesome.

The reactions if it turns out to be Mario Kart 9 will be pretty funny.
