Forums - Sales - It amazes me that Wii U/Vita sales are almost completely the opposite

Replace the gamepad with a Vita and by their powers combined they will get some decent sales numbers!

well... Japan will always prefer portables. And Vita´s lineup there is waaaaaay better than in the West.
On the other side, WiiU´s lineup in the West is waaaaaay better than in Japan. Games like Lego Marvel, Skylanders, CoD: Ghosts and AC IV are not available for WiiU in Japan

Big in America/Small in Japan.

Small in America/ Big in Japan.

Just about the same in between.

Has this happened with anything else in the past?

Maybe Sony and Nintendo should do a joint venture and do a Wii U  Vita bundle,

They could just replace the Wii U pad with the Vita and call it the Wii V!

It might cost slightly more, but for each 1 sold they would both get a sale :)

Isn't V the roman numeral for 5? So 5 penises better than Xbox One?

From experience, the Wii and the "V" have always belonged together.  It's how I made a baby!

Unfortunately, people will see Wii V and think "Hey, there were four other Wii consoles?" and get confused.

I prefer to think of it as on life support in America/doing moderately well in Japan (and vice versa).

Easy explanation from a Japanese American:
Japanese people commute a lot by train and have not-so-big TVs in not-so-big houses/apartments.
Americans drive a lot of cars and live in larger houses and love gargantuan TVs.

Japanese men often carry bags and man-purses to carry all their devices.
American men leave the house with a wallet and a phone.

Smartphone adoption rates aren't as high in Japan as they are in America, so Vita's smartphone-like features are very appealing.
