Both should exist
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

without sony we would have DRM and always online
Although i can understand you, i don't think it would be good for anyone, besides, even if MS sells it's whole Xbox division, X1 would still be there.
You can count the fanboys by the ones who suggest Sony to leave, that's just sad, guys.
but if sony leave and MS keep the only home console?
wouldnt it be the same logic?

You're trying to wow us with your education when your argument has large holes in it? What about substitute platforms like pc or the ever growing mobile sector? If you're gonna use those ten dollar words then please put some thought into it. You also forgot about Nintendo. |
Wow us with his education? Lol
Econ 101 is the the first class one would take in college. Pretty sure every major is required to take at least econ 101 as a general.
Also one should have learned about monopoly's in high school. pretty sure we learned about how they are bad and stuff in social studies back in like 10th grade. Talked about the train industry and stuff.
Ignore his Monopsony word. Everyone knows monopolies are bad, and never good for any industry. Hell the most hated industrys are because they are monopolies.
Nah, since MS entered in console gaming it has gotten better. Of course, console gaming has evolved and adapted to the times so now were seeing new and unique pricing motto's such as DLC, Microtansactions and unnecessary DLC. Though MS single handedly responsible for that.
Anyway I'm glad all 3 companies are involved in the console industry it drives competition and forces them one up each other. No PS+ No Games with Gold, No Microsoft's Halo No Uncharted, No Mario No Sonic and Crash, No GT=End of World.
More competition makes everything better.
Someone just said if Sony was gone we'd have "DRM and always online". You could have that even if it were only Sony. And that always online would be on a shit network because Live wasnt around to make Sony step their game up.

Yeah, but I just explained why there wouldn't be a monopoly. Again, you would have PC gaming, games on the other two consoles and their handhelds, if that wasn't enough tablet and smartphone games are growing. I'm just trying to inject some critical thinking into the discussion, if anything I prefer MSFT gaming.
I both agree and disagree. I both think that the gaming industry is capable of another or even two more home consoles in the market, but also agree somewhat what you said.
On way that I would have liked would be to see MS in North America, Sony or Nintendo in Asia and then [one other] in Europe. We would have one console for each of the three biggest(gaming) markets/continents. I think this would be good in a way.
So perhaps MS in NA and let's say Philips in Europe and Sony+Nintendo merge into one gaming platform. The last part I both agree and disagree with myself, since Nintendo is my favourite system and Sony would be my second favourite I suppose. So I like them separate in one way but still if they would merge... I would be fine with it.
At the very least, if one would be to leave the market I would perhaps prefer if it was MS. But still, I want to see a gaming company in NA, so I disagree, haha. But if they were to leave I would rather see a new console from Europe than from Asia.
So, in short, my "dream" would be see one console from NA, one from Europe and Sony and Nintendo to merge their gaming section.
Also of course I would like to see a gaming console from China, it would be awesome to me. But this could only be possible if the Chinese console industry would grow.
