I can't tell the difference between apples and pears. They're virtually the same. What matters most to me is the taste. Yeah, apples will win in most comparisons but to the average person on the street, if you give them a slice of pear and a slice of apple, they won't notice. Unfortunately apples are outselling pears because pears cost more.

I would account the poor pear sales for the most part on the bad press. I mean since the announcement of the pears the pear farmers listened to consumer's demand and removed almost all the poison but that hasn't gone through all media channels by now.
