You are really committed to the idea that the X1 can't do 1080p, aren't you? People like that will really feel lost if that gulf disappears? |
I think he was joking. I think.

Who has ever said the X1 can't do 1080p? It has done 1080p. A PC with PS2 specs could do 1080p if the game was simplistic enough :P

I hope this turns out to be a decent game, modern-day shooters are too samey to let me get over my mixed feelings about FPS, but some nice and OTT nazi-zombie stomping action could get me interested, plus the last WW2 shooter i played was MOH:Airborne which I absolutely loved, but things have been very barren on this front since then

Exactly, Wipeout HD (and I think Ridge Racer 7) were both 1080p on PS3

Of course it was. They could have kept the resolution at 720p and allocated the rest of the power to enhance gameplay. Which is all that matters, right?

Yep :/ It's all about what you're showing at 1080p, not the resolution itself.

"Now with enhanced gameplay!"
Stunning new development: resolution has been sliced to ambiguously 'enhance gameplay.'
In related news, your bank account has been drained to 'enhance life quality,' and your fridge is now empty to 'enhance dining.'
Why is everyone getting excited?
every xb1 game can 'run at' 1080p
Its either not native 1080p, or it is but the PR rep isnt doing justice to developers if they actually managed to get it to run at native 1080p by not boasting about it.
note, thats based on the quote “the Xbox One version of Wolfenstein will run at 1080p/60 fps.”, the link to the source doesnt work, so im not sure if the PR rep mentioned native resolutions or not, I assume not otherwise OP would have quoted it.
...And when the specs for games like the Divison or Watch Dogs get released the power gap will be shown once again. It's not the Xbox One can't do 1080p 60fps, it's that is has yet to do it on resource intensive games.
