I honestly feel the soundtrack in TF isnt near the standards of the original DKC trilogy but this one is the best one ive heard so far. On world 6 now.

I heard an hour long interview with David Wise a few days ago (recorded this December / January) on youtube, asked by game composers so it was pretty in depth.

He talks about the challenging aspect of making game music for a game like DKCTF because it has to sound new, but also stay true to the originals. Overall there are a few forgettable melodies in TF in my opinion, but I guess it'll grow on me, just like the original SNES tunes.

Remember that game music  20 years ago for SNES and especially N64 sounded radically different while the composer was making them, but they had to downscale the samples to fit within the extremely small memory. Nowadays they just use the real samples because there are no limitations.

So that's why some may think TF and other new games of old franchises sounds "wrong".

Yep.

The whole stage, including the sound track for it, is utterly brilliant. I'm at 3-2 and I can't wait to see what more the game is gonna give me .

The music is fantastic, but I am not going to lie- I am struggling with the game.... it is too hard lmfao

DK is hard? For me Mario is always much harder.

DKCR was one of the hardest games I've ever played.

Chilly Coast is one of my favs

I've got many favourites in the game, almost everything from Mangrove Cove to the boss battle tunes really fits. Shipwreck Shore just IS (not just fits with) a second level tune, if you understand what I mean. David Wise is a genius.

6th island tunes are also awesome. The tune in the seventh island stages is also really fun but I haven't really paid attention to it yet since the stages are so hard...

Yep.

oh dont get me wrong, the game sound more modern now and it has some excellent tunes but most of it doesnt really sound that memorable to me compared to the original trilogy.  On the other hand, i do love that he kept the Aquatic Ambience from the original trilogy. I will say it is one of the better ost's in recent years though

I can see it now, Lion King Theme levels as DLC, I would pay for that :)

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games
