Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Peter Molyneux promises advanced AI

Though Peter has in the past promised incredible Artificial Intelligence in Fable 2 (primarily the dog that accompanies the player), in this article talking about the firm's secret new project, Molyneux described it as being "as close to revolutionary as anything I have ever seen."  The most innovative feature of the project will be it's AI.

Numerous developers have stated that the Xbox 360 has a clear advantage in AI, even if the PS3 can better the Microsoft console in the graphics compartment, the best known example being Ubisoft.  Will this secret project be the game to highlight the Xbox 360's AI superiority?

Ur second part is BS, sorry

Stop ur shit about the PS3 not able to handle IA. You are just picking (again !) the old Ubisoft comment during the CoD4 developement :

"the best know example" TRANSLATE : "THE ONLY KNOW EXAMPLE" !

and I m waiting for the big Peter's revelation and big IA improvement,
Maybe a good surprise for the Xbox360.

Time to Work !

I wasn't aware that Ubisoft said anything regarding PS3 AI during CoD4 development, but If they did you just proved my point. If you follow my example you will find that it discusses Splinter Cell: Conviction. Next time read the links before you have a go at me simply for quoting the opinions of respected developers.

And your evidence is?

The truth is Cell is a specialised processor, meaning it is much stronger than a general processor in some areas and weaker in others. One of the areas where Cell is weaker is AI. The general structure of AI code is very branchy, while the general structure of physics and graphics code is very calculation oriented. You can't improve your performance one way without sacrificing it in the other.

The Xbox 360 CPU is also geared more towards calculations than branches, but not nearly as much as the Cell.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I dont care of Splinter Cell Conviction lol.
It is not about the game, it is about the developpers. So far only Ubisoft have stated this. Nobody else.

In fact,

Is ur thread about Advanced IA on a new Peter's project ????? (see ur title)

or

is it another way to bash the PS3 ????? (limited IA on PS3)

Then I can bring u other poor past attempts :

EGM/1up : worst IA : Killzone2, so good to judge a not released game
best IA: Halo3, judging how poor is the Ally IA in Halo3 ...

or even people commenting the MGS4 demo IA that was volontary set on "easy" ...

Finally, it is funny that people making FarCry2 (Ubisoft again) just recently praised the PS3 developement saying there was no problem with the black box possibility ...

omgwtfbbq,

The truth is that we know nothing about the PS3/Xbox360 possibilities or limitation. The only thing we know so far is that the PS3 developement is longer than the Xbox360 developement judging from the numbers of delayed games on the PS3 side.

Time to Work !

libellule - we know PS3/X360 limitations from the developers, since they are the ones that code for the systems themselves.

So I'd be more inclined to believe a developer saying something is easier than you, since you have absolutely no programming experience whatsoever.

And since you admit that the PS3 development cycle is longer, shouldn't that mean that maybe the X360 can do some things better?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Can someone please explain to me why we need incredibly advanced AI in games?
Can you give me an example of what features this enhanced AI character in question will do that will make gameplay experience so much better than what we have now?

Actually about half an hour ago I started a thread about the red ring of death, so that theory just flew out the window.

The ally AI in HAlo 3 is fine, but the enemy AI is FANTASTIC.

As for FarCry 2. In my OP i noted that eventually the PS3 is likely to have a marginal graphical advantage over the Xbox 360, but in the FarCry2 comments there was nothing said about AI from memory, only about streaming large environments.

And given you state that you know nothing of the possibilities of both these consoles, why do you doubt the people that do?

Peter molyneux wants a blowjob machine that performs the task in hand (or mouth) perfectly. The xbox 360 may just be that machine.

@ everyone: sorry about this trolling post
