Forums - Sony - Vita Slim Didn't Boost Sales In The UK, They Actually Went Down Week To Week (According to VGC #s)

I don't know if the oled version is being discontinued or not, but when this new model comes, it's inevitable. If you try craigslist, you can find a lot of people selling oled models with games and memory card for very cheap. I got my oled vita 3G model with uncharted, a 16 gig card for $120. Pretty nice at that price. Beautiful screen too, I love how unlike LCD, the black is still black even in total darkness. Definately go for the Oled model if you're going to get one.

Thanks for the idea Justagamer. I went on Craig's List and best deal saw was $150 for system and 4gb card for my area.  I can wait and see, never used Craig's List before, so a bit wary unless it is a really great deal.

Are they still selling the old model?  If so they were probably trying the old expresso machine move.

At least I think it was an expresso machine.  Either way, they sold the things for like 400 dollars.  Sold none of them.

Then they released a premium model for 600 dollars... and none of them really sold....

but the 400 dollar model suddenly started flying off the shelves.

Because look at the great deal!

interesting concept

Yeah, basically the theory is... Nobody knows what an expresso machine out by itself is worth.  Since at the time it was the only home expresso machine ever...

but with a second one you set an expectation of price.

It works best with three models in fact.

sneaky. I love this type of persuasion psychology. Thinks like group mentality, conformity, and alignment modification are very interesting subjects.

1-2 months back you could get a Vita for £140-160 here, with a selection of free games and a memory card included. The new "Slim" console retails for about £180 and comes with no games and no memory card.

The 3DS (XL) has been hovering around the £130-140 mark for quite some time. It has a great selection of titles on it and system sellers which, the Vita, quite franky.. does not have.

Needless to say.. no competition whats-so-ever.

The thing is, you can still get good bundles on the current model at around £160. You can also get some add ons for the Slim model at £180 (which does come with 1GB of internal memory...). I am 90% sure that once they get through the old stock, the slim price will come down

My brother got a 3DS for £100 the other week, having got his Vita with Tearaway (maybe with a memory card) for £140. Given 3DS games are ~£30-£35, the difference wasn't that huge
