Well it was certainly a big letdown but a disgrace? It wasn't that bad! haha, definitely not bad enough to damage the IP.

It was above average, on a scale of: Ninja Gaiden 3/DMC2 (rubbish) - Dante's Inferno (mediocre) -  God of War III (amazing) - It sits between DI & GoW3 as just 'good' which is obviously not good enough for the series but compared to most games in the genre, really not bad at all.

I'd definitely recommend newcomers to play Ascension last though, the plot adds almost nothing to the overarching storyline. One should only play it if they are looking to simply enjoy the  good gameplay, great audio and amazing visual experience the game offers and not for its almost non-existent story.

It depends on what one expects from the god of war games, I expect ton notch quality and Ascension wasn´t that, it was all right but the worst God of War game by a landslide.

And how much damage to the franchise is will be known when the next one is announced.

That is ridiculous. Ascencion is my favorite title in the series. He might enjoy it more than the other ones.

I mean cmon, where do you get that from? ITs the best title graphically, it has the best gameplay and has a really cool multiplayer mode. Is it worse cause it doesnt give you some gauntlets and a bow? OR because you had already killed Zeus? Either way, that isnt good advice.

Cause the camera is complete crap in the game, in some sections in the game they zoom out so you look like an ant while enemies are still attacking you so I was basically just spamming buttons and hoping for the best, and this happens often.  Camera is most frustrating in the snake section, idk how they didn't see how bad it is.  Also the story is underwhelming and I guess I don't really care about graphics and multiplayer that much.
