God of War series. Best play order for new players?

This, although I can't comment on Origins either.  1-3 are good and have story.  Ascension was just meh.  Almost reminds me of Gears of War (play 1-3 and avoid Judgement).

Well it was certainly a big letdown but a disgrace? It wasn't that bad! haha, definitely not bad enough to damage the IP.

It was above average, on a scale of: Ninja Gaiden 3/DMC2 (rubbish) - Dante's Inferno (mediocre) -  God of War III (amazing) - It sits between DI & GoW3 as just 'good' which is obviously not good enough for the series but compared to most games in the genre, really not bad at all.

I'd definitely recommend newcomers to play Ascension last though, the plot adds almost nothing to the overarching storyline. One should only play it if they are looking to simply enjoy the  good gameplay, great audio and amazing visual experience the game offers and not for its almost non-existent story.
