Forums - Gaming - Lord of Shadow 2 off to a not so good start - Edge gives it 4 and Game Informer a 6.0. Both complain of modern day and stealth sections

here's the last paragraph, "the first lords of shadow is remembered as a commendable achievement from a relatively small team working to a comparatively tight budget. it's sequel, by contrast, cannot disguise the resources with which it was made. lords of shadow 2 is clunky, ugly and deeply misguided. it's a game that sees the lord of the damned as a vehicle for rat-powered linear stealth, and that takes a future gothic-london setting and then sets the action in tower blocks and sewers. mercury steam says this will be the final game in the lords of shadow saga, and on the evidence of the cluttered, bloated and forgettable mess, it - EDGE 4.0

One part of the game that held an excellent amount of potential -- Dracula foraying into the modern age -- is ultimately the game's undoing, and what GI's Jeff Cork found to be the biggest nosferatu nuisance:

"Satan's head honchos have embedded themselves in modern business, heading up industries including pharmaceutical and weapons manufacturing (har har). That gives Gabriel a reason to infiltrate a few generic factory levels, where he leaves his combat abilities at the door in exchange for tedious stealth - opening doors by turning into piles of rats and possessing generic guards. After surviving these sections, as well as a later stealth area that is truly a worst-in-class experience, I understand why Gabriel craves death's sweet embrace." GI 6.0

Anybody play the demo? Haven't done so yet myself, dont feel like hooking PS3 back up.

I'll still get it. The good parts seem to outweigh the negative, and I am a combat junkie. Pity though. I'm concerned about the sales.

I hated the first one, not going to bother with the second one. The game just missed the mark on so many levels and was genuinely unfun to play.

The demo was really good, nice visuals, good controls, etc. I guess it just falls apart later on.

I still haven't finished the first one. Guess I won't bother even starting this one.

i played the demo, still playing the first one on my laptop, the demo seemed more of the same style with a life sucking sword and some block breaking claws for fighting and then climbing this attacking church GoW/platform style

they didn't show the other levels talked about above but we'll find out i guess, poor reviews though, should turn up on plus then relatively quickly :)

Ugly?  The game looked really good, sounds like the reviewer is just hating on the game.

I hated the first one. I'm not even gonna bother with this. Let me know when Konami gives the franchise back to Igarashi.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

It's what they get for not bringing this to the wiiu... Just joking. Now, on a serious note, I really enjoyed the first one on the 360. It's a shame, as the ending of the first one left a perfect setting for this one. Too bad too, I would have dusted off the old ps3 or 360 for this one... Now, probably not going to happen. If some users here play it and say otherwise, I'll give it a go, until then, I'll save my $$....
