I think he meant until around before 2 years of the end of the generation ...

Nothing short of a miracle. It's selling roughly 50k a week while being overtracked heavily in the US, so it's probably doing under 40k per week currently. Mario Kart and Smash Bros can't triple the sales on their own.

That's why it also needs a price cut for there to be a chance of it happening. Without a price cut I agree, zero chance of happening. With a price cut (perhaps $50 isn't enough of a cut), I think the chances are non-zero, which is why I put 20%.

Of course we know the blue ocean is ignoring Wii U right now because Wii Fit U has bombed. It could just be price that's holding them back, we won't know until Wii U gets into the Wii's original price range.

none unless you mean during the month of december as permanently

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Certain games highly anticipated but Nintendo fans are launched, like Mario Kart 8, SSB, DKCTF and others,

And

Price cut to $250 in the USA (and comparable price cut everywhere else)?

It could happen. It's possible that the blue ocean Wii swam in is sitting on the sidelines waiting for Wii U to get into their price zone, which was $250 for Wii, and that people like me are dead wrong that most of the blue ocean were one time only console buyers. I still think the blue ocean has largely abandoned consoles but I could be wrong.

So could the blue ocean people come back? Also, if they do will they start getting into more of the "hardcore" video games and entice 3rd party devs to put more effort into Wii U. Or would the blue ocean mostly buy the same sorts of games they did on Wii?

I think the answer is 50% or less.  Could be as low as 10%, assuming Nintendo doesn't make the right moves.

Price cut and more games?  Definitely a chance, thought the outlook is not good.

they will not cut the price again (at least not now or next months)

Yeah, just to clarify for those who might be inclined to take it literally, in a serious way, I'll clarify what permanently means.

Its not really being overtracked heavily in the US, only just over the last month. Do you remember how undertracked it was in Dec, to the tune of around 160k?

It would take a huge miracle.
Although miracles did happen to Nintendo in the past :/

Those blue ocean people still have their Wii. They're not interested in dropping hundreds more on another game console. They have the new iPhone to save up for, anyway.

The Wii sold to a lot of people who weren't gamers. Those people have now realized that they're not gamers. They won't be buying another console. Some of them gave their Wii away to the neighbor's kid. Some of them bring it out for parties. Some of them still pop in Just Dance now and then. However, very few of them are worried about upgrading.

The Wii U has a chance to sell moderately well once it builds up a library but I just can't see it catching fire.

Destiny on the PS4 which doesn't have a release date is at 229k pre orders in the states where as Mario kart wii u is at 49k. I'm personally really looking forward to Mariokart its a must have purchase for me but sadly I don't think its that significant to most gaming people yet. However if the reviews are amazing I feel a Mariokart bundle for Christmas could do huge numbers. I don't think it will be huge at release time due to the low install base and not a great time for console hardware sales. However that doesn't prevent it still being a good weapon in Nintendo's arsenal of games later on.
