Forums - Sony - Square Enix still has no plans for Final Fantasy XII HD, says fans need to demand it

I Don't remember anyone asking for X/X-2 HD prior to its announcment.

Its only natural to give XII a remaster seeing as its quite hard to get hold of. Most PS3s are not backwards compatible like they are with the PS1 era of games, and the ps2 version would look horrid on a HD display.

Still one of the most important FFs in my opinion. Best voice acting of any JRPG in my opinion, and a refreshingly grounded cast of main characters and villans.

Fans demanded a FFVII HD remake, and that went nowhere fast. Screw you S-E, do something on your own for once.

Because people havent been demanding a Final Fantasy VII Remake now for close to a Decade.

They said that it wasn't possible or that it would require way too much work. Whatever that means.

They said it would take a decade, basically.  Which is kind of a copout, though, I'd much prefer they take a decade to remake a much beloved game, than take a decade vomitting awfulness into the industry.

Versus 13 took a decade. So a decade for SE isn't out of the ordinary. :P

And that may be only me, but even if I loved FFXII I am not interested in a HD remake, while I am for X.

Plus XIII is still fresh in people mind, while XII is, well, old now. (even if this hurts to say)

These two sentences kind of conflict with each other.  X is even older than XII, but X HD showed that despite age, people were still more interested in it than a new XIII game.

X sold better, and had better critical reception. It has oen of the best storyline and universe in the series, and design has more success too.

Edit : And both are "old" now, There is no difference in "kinda old" and "a little older" in hype fading.

Aye, so it can be done, they're just being idiots about it.  I'm still not sure why, it's clearly something that many many people would buy.  But, w/e, it's not like I'm hurting for games to play.

XII and IX are my favorite Final Fantasies. Remaking XII would be simple. It has no static backgrounds and was made from the ground up for a 16:9 ratio.

I wouldn't worry, once it comes out in the west sales will comfortably exceed Kingdom Hearts 1.5 which is getting a second entry and which is arguably more expensive to do as it consists of 2 games and few hours of cutscenes.

XII HD will come, they're just being coy because it isn't confirmed yet (should be shortly, even if they don't announce it for a while)
