Forums - Gaming - Bayoneta Wii U-PS3

The reason for this comparison was two fold:

#1 The PS3 was the most powerful console last gen and #2 everyone says that the Wii U is barely more powerful than the PS3.

So they're making an example of how the Wii U can "blow the PS3 out of the water" when comparing two similar games. Problem being: the PS3 version of Bayonetta was a shitty, muddy looking port made by a completely different studio.

People can't talk about the 360 version (i.e. definitive version by a landslide) in this comparison because the 360, on paper, was weaker than the PS3.

Let's not talk about how Arkham City/Origins, ME3, Splinter Cell Blacklist, etc......games that are on an even playing field between the PS3 and WiiU (not comparing a port of a game to a sequel (which 9 times out of 10 look way better than the original) of said game, made by the original studio) have their best versions on the PS3. Even when they rebooted Goldeneye specifically for the Wii, and then made 007 Legends, which is built around that same Wii engine.....the PS3 version is better than the WiiU version (even though it's really moot since that game was terrible, period).

First of all, outside of anything else, nothing should ever be compared to the PS3 version of Bayonetta. It was garbage and an insult to consumers. It was a ripoff and Sega should be held responsible for it. The game was nearly unplayable at release.

Besides, it's impossible to judge anything from those screen shots except that one is a LOT more colorful.

Well I don't know about release, but it's very much playable now when I last played it. The only bad part was the opening sequence. It was very... muddy and downright ugly. I was really afraid the rest of the game was like this but it turned out fine.

Did you play it before or after the patch?  I shouldn't say unplayable but it was very, very annoying and the definition of a bad port.  The lag from using the menu was ridiculous.

My real question is, why people bother with Bayonetta's graphics? It's not like they're photorrealistic or something. They just blend within the atmosphere Platinum Games wants to give to the game. Kudos for achieving 60fps, which is what this game needs.

The graphics are the least of someone's concern regarding Bayonetta's type of game quality.

Original Wii fans talked about graphics all the time as well. They kept trying to convince us that Wii was doing graphics at par with PS360.

Begs the question, if you're so concerned about graphics why do you keep buying the Wii?

Or before the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One with the rumors that all systems were going to have graphics only slightly better than the PS360 because more powerful PCs haven't pushed anything too far above what we saw at the time.  Nintendo fans were all saying how powerful the Wii U was.  Then when the PS4 was announced in February.  Nintendo fans were then like.  Graphics don't matter, it's all about the games.

Then when X showed at E3 last year.  Nintendo fans praised its graphics how it was far better than PS3 graphics.  Well.  With the launch of the newest Nintendo direct, the graphics actually being worse, Nintendo fans now have to latch onto something else.  Bayonetta 2 has a gameplay video which looks better than X graphically, but is the graphics really better than the best looking PS3 game?  That's debatable.  I don't think it looks that great overall.  But one thing that I do notice and I really hate the effect, is how everything has that metallic texture on it.  Nintendo did this first with Metroid Prime on the Gamecube and it worked because well, Samus' suit is metal.  Because of the shiny reflective look, they then do it on most of their Wii games and now they're probably telling Platinum to do it as well.  It's a really ugly effect in my opinion, but I think they do it because they think it makes everything look better.  It makes everything look extremely unrealistic to me.  Platinum did it on Wonderful 101, now Bayonetta 2.  I think they're doing it because of Nintendo influence.

Well, it's Bayonetta TWO. Two is like 100% more than One. Can't argue with the maths. Bayonetta 2 is 100% better.

a 2009 game vs a 2014, dont really think that's fair.

What does that mean for Xbox 360 -> Xbox One?
