I have to say, I'm really curious if all the people in here saying 1080p is the only way to go watch only bluray and never Netflix... because Nextflix almost never streams in 1080p even when they claim 'Super HD.'

I understand now.
I'd rather have better graphics at 720p 30fps. Since it requires twice as much power to render 1080p than 720p, that means that maybe they could have twice as better graphics at 720p.

I usually only watch blu-ray, but a couple of nights ago I gave psn another try, $2 HD rental for Pacific rim.
It proves the point, all the impressive parts of the movie were lost in soft blurry action scenes. Detail destroyed.
Art style is probably the most important thing in my opinion, which explains why all Nintendo first party titles look fantastic. Next I would take improved frame rate and then better AA at the expense of resolution. Higher resolution is definitely desirable but probably least important to me. I'd rather have a softer image with no jaggies and better motion handling. I think once developers get to grips with the PS4, it should deliver on all aspects, certainly without needing to resort to 720p.
1080p does not look slightly better, it looks much better. I'd rather sacrifice anything but texture detail in order to keep the resolution at 1080p. You can lower shadows, light effects, object detail or even FPS in order to get 1080p running.
I also played Perfect Dark in highres mode on N64 by the way and in my opinion it did run perfectly fine and looked so much better. When having to decide between 720p and 1080p with slightly lower FPS, effect details and shadows, I'd always chose the 1080p option bacause 1080p is the TV standard and upscaled graphics look ugly and blurry.
Upscaling quality always depends on the algorythm used, therefore 720p only looks better than 900p on a 4k TV, if the 4k TV has a bad scaler. The 900p picture still contains a lot more information and detail which can be used by a good scaler to create a superior 4k image compared to 720p upscaling.
Pixels cannot be beautiful if I can count them by hand.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
Fuck the raw graphics. 1080p with great art direction will look betterbetter for years. Save some money on development budget as well.
