Forums - Gaming - Delays vs Unfinished Products

The time has come to choose:

Delays 14 70.00%

Patches 0 0%

As an impatient perfectio... 4 20.00%

See results 2 10.00%

Total:20

It has come to my attention that a lot of people are dissatisfied whenever a game that they are looking forward to is delayed by its developers. My question to those people is why.

I mean, sure, it may be argued that the developers should have been better prepared in order to meet their projections, but when the unexpected occurs, is rushing the game through the gate really the ideal solution? Is releasing a game on schedule and following the release with patches every two weeks in addition to permanent quality deficits really preferable over waiting a couple of months extra for the finished product?

Anyway, take your pick and feel free to explain why.

Delays over unfinished and broken games any day. People generally play games for fun or atleast some kind of entertainment. A broken game fails to provide that and wastes the most important commodity for a human being. Precious time.

Its cause instead of people like giving anal to the companies that the release unfinished messes, they like to receive anal with unfinished products and then whining about it... Its amazing how much more games like Cod and BF sells reguardless of buggy and unfinished they are...

Its so interesting how many people whine about, oh, blah game is buggy or its unfinished and how greedy the company is, etc but then when a Company delays a game in order to get it finished so they don't fuck their customers up with an unfinished/buddy product, people whine about how its delayed... Literally, hypocrites everywhere

Its basically like, here little Timmy, either you get a buggy game or a finished game but you have to wait for it, but you don't get both you annoying little spoiled brat

And yes, I would rather pick delayed cause when you get a game thats a buggy mess, you will end up by either having EA issues where the servers don't work and the game has glitches everywhere, or Cod issues where the games wont even run in most cases or WB issues where it has game breaking bugs which they won't fix cause they already have all of our money

I couldn't care less either way.

Bullshit. We as a consumer have no basis on why a game was delayed. Saying that a game will be better because the devs got more time to work on is wishful thinking.
The only thing it does is raising people's expectations that will never be fulfilled. A game won't be finished or bug free no matter how long the devs work on it.

To assume that a game will be noticeably better just because the devs got a few more months time is naive. Just think about the games that were delayed without our knowledge because there wasn't a release date? Did they get better because of that?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm not annoyed by a messy game being delayed verses releasing on time. I'm annoyed that it's messy in the first place. Delays are a million billion times better than releasing a game and fixing major issues with patches, but do you know what is even better? A great game releasing on time with no issues at all. Don't announce a date unless you're confident in hitting it.

Delays are always better than unfinished products, but that dosent mean we cant complain.
