Forums - Sony - Infamous: Second son will not feature multiplayer. Why not?

Some games don't need multiplayer.

For example, they added a tack-on multiplayer to the Wii version of Punch Out!! but I never even tried it because that's absolutely not what I'm looking for when playing Punch Out!!, same thing for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

I prefer to have extra polish on the single player over an unnecessary multiplayer component.

Wii Punch Out is a great game.  Havn't played it in awhile, but I honestly had no idea it had MP.

Bioshock games don't have any MP modes and seem to be just fine. So this is really a non issue

Edited:they have one had MP.

So the worst rated one, Bioshock 2, was the only one that had MP.

I do think not having COOP does hurt these games. I wasn't happy hearing they didn't have it. I like playing coop in games and when it doesn't have it I'm disappointed.

If it is not part of the story why force it?

Why would anyone expect it to have multiplayer?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Hey wow, that news is only 3 weeks old, great work!!!

No one posted it did they? So I figured would like to know there is not COOP.  This is a huge selling pont to many.

You heard it here first folks. InFamous SS not having Co-op will hurt its sales and meta. Breaking news over here.

Nah, just meta. You guys will buy it up regardless ;)

Most likely, just like you guys buy up Forza 5 when it has no content and lower meta.  :)

openworld mp dont work so well if the game isnt about beating hookers and driving around...

Crackdown 1 (2007) had coop. Saints Row has coop I think.

This will hurt its meta. MP is one thing, but Coop is more or less expected now.

I don't think the infamous series has ever had multiplayer and it's always received positive reviews.

I don't believe every game has to have multiplayer, and at the end of the day it's really up to the developer.

I'll bet on infamous second son being a critical and commecial success.

Total bullshit. If missing "expected" features like Coop in an open world game are going to hurt its meta, then I wonder how much you think missing the kinda expected feature of a singleplayer campaign is going to hurt Titanfalls meta.

People don't buy COD or BF for the single player. Certainly don't play months after release because of singleplayer. Titanfall cuts the crap and markets itself as a MP only game.

With sandbox games, it is more fun to explore the game with a friend. Crackdown, Saints Row, GTA......weird how PS4 can't pull it off.

cod and bf have realy bad sp. the story is horrible and the mission are realy crappy made. that doesnt mean that  good sp wouldnt be a sellingpoint.

and its not the ps4, its sonys firtspartys. thats sonys biggest problem

You ask why not. I ask, why?

but sometimes the tacked on multiplayer can surprise you.

Look at mass effect 3, I was super annoyed when they announced multiplayer for it, definitely not something I thought the game needed.  However, the multiplayer was freaking phenomenal!  It actually ended up being one of my favorite multiplayer experiences of the last gen.

I do agree that infamous certainly doesn't need multiplayer, the game is going to be great no matter what and I will buy it day 1.  Still, adding coop is an obvious improvement they can make for the next game.

Obvious flamebaiting for at least the second time today huh? Not really necessary  is it?

For me I just don't like tacked on modes. Infamous sans multiplayer? GREAT! Titanfall sans single player? GREAT! Infamous with multiplayer that actually adds to the experience unlike 99% of the mp out there? EVEN BETTER!

So I'm fully content with this really old news.
