Forums - Sales Discussion - January 2014 NPD Thread! - PS4: 271k, XBO: 141k, WiiU: 49k

So, I believe that would make the gap ~350K in favor of the PS4, if I'm remembering correctly. February is going to grow it even more, as PS4's are finally coming back in stock more frequently. And I added one sale to the gap, too.

There are so many things I would say right, now.... but I'm afraid I'll get banned.

Let me just say this, Titanfall will be the nail in the coffin for the PS4 against the X1 in the US, right? :D

Now, now..where is he?

He's banned because Sony guys can't take a joke.

Really?...again?..people don´t cut him any slack.

Also from GAF:

Close to 57K units for the WiiU.

Oh wow. PS4 with way over 50% marketshare in the US. Almost doubling its nearest competitor. This is reminding me of an older Sony console for some reason

This one?

Poor Nintendo..

I like you :)

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the price difference. Welcome to the problems Sony had with PS3, Microsoft.

Hopefully microsoft can cut the price as quickly as sony did.  They cut 100 off by summer i think if i remember correctly.  If ms cant get down to price parity fast, they may be in for a rough ride...

Xbone closer to ~143K. The math behind this number:

"Comparatively, Xbox One consoles have sold at a rate of 2.29 times faster than Xbox 360 in the U.S. in the same timeframe for the first three months on the market." - Microsoft PR

Xbox 360:

November 2005: 326K
December 2005: 281K
January 2006: 249K
=
Three month total: 856K

Xbox One:

November 2013: 909K
December 2013: 908K
=
Two month total: 1817K

So:
1817K + ???K January 2014 = (856K) * 2.29 times faster
1817K + ???K January 2014 = 1960K
Xbox One January 2014 sales = ~143K

I have been banned 3 times for jokes against MS, so maybe Xbox owners lack sense of humor and/or can't take a joke as well?

So 3DS and everyone else below ~145k.

Some minor difference in VGC and NPD software numbers that i'll point out in case ioi ever feels like changing them:

  • CoD Ghosts WiiU > PC on NPD.
  • NBA 2K14 > Battlefield 4 on NPD.
  • NBA 2K14 - PS4 > 360 on NPD; XB1 > PS3.
  • Assassin's Creed 4 > GTA 5 on NPD.
  • Assassin's Creed 4 - PS4 > XB1 on NPD.
  • FIFA 14 - PS3 > 360 on NPD.
  • Pokemon X/Y included in VGC top 10; not on NPD top 10.
  • Just Dance 2014 included in VGC top 10; not on NPD top 10.
  • LEGO Marvel included in NPD top 10; not on VGC top 10.
  • Tomb Raider included in NPD top 10; not on VGC top 10.

They don't combine pokemon x and y's numbers, they count them as single games, which is why it isn't in the top 10.
