Because you touch yourself at night

It's healthy for you. Studies show that people who do live longer lives. LOL

Then I'm going to live forever

I hope you do live forever, otherwise you're going straight to hell.

@OP

It's simple:

1) It's the only traditionally core system on the market this gen.
Gen 7 had 2; gen 6 had 3, gen 5 had 3
Now there is only one.

2) It's cheaper than the nearest competitor, and the value over the wiiU spec-wise is huge

3) People buy for potential. Same reason MS PR keeps saying they'll "implement awesome feature X at some point Y".

4) and most importantly....it's playstation

I've played my Wii U and 3DS more than my Ps4 (which I got on day 1). Like the OP says there's no games for it (yet). I've played one boxed retail game, Knack, 1 free PSN game Resogun and tried, but didn't like, the PS Plus game Don't Starve. I've cancelled my PS Plus membership until I get word of something worthwhile having it for.

Don't get me wrong, I know I don't speak out for the 'majority' or masses of Sony drones out there who will gobble up anything Sony chucks at them, but the PS4 launch window experience, for me, has been lacking. I know this will change, slowly, as the launch window fades into the mists of time, so I'm just biding my time with my Wii U and 3DS, which actually have some games due sooner, rather than later.

Just because you don't like or aren't willing to buy any of the many PS4 games already available, does not equal the PS4 physically not having games available.  Just sayin.

People just investing on the potential of PS4.

PS. there are good games for PS4

Ew.

Never touching anyone's 3DS ever again.

Also, it's not my catchphrase, it's Sony's.

I know it is Sony's catchphrase. I've seen the ads on TV plenty.

That was also probably not the best wording from me...!

Your sarcasm detector is plenty broken! Everyone knows that :P

Haha well for me it's because of it's awesome design, power, new controller and epic amazing games that are yet to come.

People expend their money in what they think is worth. Maybe a more valid question would be why XBone is selling good and WiiU horribly, even tough Nintendo is the most tradicional and have the most popular and arguibly the best IPs in the industrie... I simply don't see why the world would be wrong and every company would be sabotaging Nintendo for 20 years, they have to take responsibility.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=9008994

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

To be honest like I said I don't think there's much loyalty between 360/PS3 fans ... they'll go to which ever console of the two gives them the third party games they want for the best cost/performance.

By the "it has no games" thing we would all be playing PS2 forever.

What matters when making an investment is the future, and it looks good, and for now you can still get a lot of awesome games and content. Really depends on the consumer

It's mostly because a lot of people are tired of their ancient PS3/360 and want to upgrade to a new console ... the PS4 has been designated the "golden child" because it's $100 cheaper with equal/better specs to the X1.

Though I agree based on actual merit, it's a bit overrated. The X1 has the better library.

How? Ps4 has had new games fleshing out it;s library and adding variety every month, with indies the ps4 has a better lineup currently. outlast is excellent. It's free.

No one's seriously paying $400 for a state of the art new console to play some rinky dink indie games.

PS4/X1 are the consoles of choice for people who want big TV experiences ... the PS4 just fills that gap for $100 less.

Honestly we've never really seen this in the industry before where a more powerful system was $100 cheaper than its competetion.

It would be like if the SNES launched at $50 less than the Genesis while having a decent edge in graphics.

Never said they did, but they add variety, and flesh out a library especially at launch, you dont hget AAA games every 2 weeks. Sony was smart using indies early on.

PS Many do buy consoles to play retro games I work with several who mainly play indie and Downloabable titles with the scatter AA game.

It became the "cool" console to have like the X360 was last gen in US. Also 400$ for a top tech machine that will last and get great software support for at least half a decade is not bad.
