Forums - Sony - Why the heck is everyone so crazy about the PS4?

Buah, how many posts!!! People should appreciate this moments, because in a few months, this site will become boring because it will be so obvious PS4 is winning over the competition, there will be only PS fans posting. Last gen had Wii starting awesome too but we had the pretty story of ps3vs360. In this gen i don't see WiiU making a comeback a la PS3 nor fighting even with Xbox One....so we only have a console that will end selling a lot more than Xbox One and WiiU combined.

In response of the OT...Sony just made a cooler product, that already have a huge reputation as the standard of home consoles, more powerful and cheaper than its main competitor. It's a no brainer.

And most people, like me, are not buying ps4 for the games at launch, but for all the games will start coming soon that will be PS4 exclusives or will run better on PS4. In my case, the price or power were not the reasons to buy a PS4 over the others...It was and always be the GAMES and Playstation always have the 95% of games that i want to play.

Still a better launch than the Vita / 3DS / Wii U.

Assassin's Creed IV is worth the purchase of either of the more expensive consoles alone, Tomb Raider as well if you skipped it originally, and NFS: Rivals is a surprising amount of fun.

Of course, I've been playing all three on PC so I'm good on skipping the consoles for a while, but I definitely get why it's in demand. I owned a Wii U for a while, the games were okay but surprisingly little has changed in the first party titles from their previous iterations, 3rd party titles were pretty terrible on it as well.

...that is a negative point for you after you praised annual sequels like Assassins Creed 4 and NFS: Rivals as " worth the purchase of either of the more expensive consoles alone" ?

ok

Assassin's Creed 4 for sure, there weren't a lot of pirate adventure / naval strategy games made last gen. Just because it's an annual title doesn't mean it's Call of Duty, and if you're going to recycle some basic control concepts, at least make the locales interesting which AC4 definitely did.

I hadn't played a NFS game in ages so I can accept that as a fault - I enjoyed it because I hadn't played one in a while and it was basically a super polished Burnout with killer visuals and solid online integration. Also it was a vast location change from Most Wanted (which was all city), though I didn't play that until after Rivals.

This versus something like NSMBU which is almost indistinguishable from NSMB on the Wii and DS, in terms of gameplay, graphics, level design and setting. Or Pikmin.  Super Mario World 3D got the visuals down pat but even that one wore out its welcome. Actually I think that is the main problem, while Nintendo still makes games that control perfectly with notable characters, they've gotten really generic lately.

^What he said. Resogun is a killer app

I don't know if anyone's actually buying a $400 console for a $15(?) DD game, but I will admit I can't stop playing it.

This thread explain it very well :)
Some people cares more about the stats than the experience/gameplay... PS4 is more powerful on paper, so even if the games experience is the same Xbox One or if it has more games, a lot of people will go for the stats.

Didn't know 30fps gives you same experiance as a 60fps game.  -_-

So let me get straight:

PS4 = better game experience, 1080p/60fps
PS4 = will always have a bigger game library than xBone, fact!
PS4 = better stats/specs, multi platform games have proven time and time again.
PS4 = all that for $100 cheaper!

OMG, now I discovered why everyone wants a PS4

(like really, a no fucking brainer) >_>

Great post lol.

Looks like you misunderstood the numbers on the front page. The 3.4m is basically the amount of Xbox One sold (I believe it is important to explain you that, you did not get I think). So the "everyone" and "no brainer" is a bit off actually by a long shot :)

And really, you are adding "fact" at the end of the only point that is totaly up in the air, esp. now?

Anyway, thank you for proving my point again :) The game experience for your is only the resolution/FPS. That's good, it means that if Microsoft or Nintendo or even Zynga comes out with a better console (spec wise) you will have a better experience and jump on this one. Awesome man, this tells everything about you!

Now my point view, is that experience is not only that. But also, the controller for instance, the eco-system (Microsoft one), Xbox Live, the TV integration, Kinect, etc... You may hate those, believe that they suck or even think that you get the same value on your PS4. But guess what, 3.4m people do not believe so. Yah, the PS4 is definetly selling more than the Xbox One and is more appealing the general mass but certainly not the "no brainer" choice "everyone" is choosing like you imply.

Again, great post :)

Looks like you misunderstood the numbers on the front page. The 3.9m is basically the amount of Xbox One sold (I believe it is important to explain you that, you did not get I think). So the "everyone" and "no brainer" is a bit off actually by a long shot :)

There are two main reasons (which actually tie into one main reason) as to why I believe it's doing so well.

The first is that there is mad hype around the machine so it's selling crazy because of that and the second is it's been so long since the last console release that there are more people that want to jump and purchase it right away because they've been anticipating next gen gaming for a while now.

i'll add two three more.

1. consoles do so much more than they used to.  netflix is a huge reason why i turn my ps3 on.   knowing how much use i'll get out of a ps4 it is really easy to justify a $400 purchase...  much much moreso than when it was just a machine to play a game or two.   hell, it's worth it to just pay the extra $100 (relative to waiting for a price cut) just to get another year of use out of netflix on the ps4 with its really fast OS than to stay on the ps3 and its long load times.

2.

3.

edit: added a third reason.  :P

Those certainly are other factors to why it's doing so well. I wouldn't call them main reasons as to why it's doing as well as it is (except for your reason #1) but they definitely do their own part.

I guess it really boils down to one overarching reason, and that is the PS4 really is an ultimate entertainment device (although I still think the two reasons I listed are two of the biggest driving factors in how well it's currently selling).

Better exclusives, better versions of multiplats, $100 cheaper...

What's not to understand?

Because Greatness Awaits®

They say "greatness awaits" but the 360 platnium games say "greatness is earned"

Which leads me to think Sony is giving away greatness to everybody, even those who do not deserve greatness. You think greatness grows on trees Sony?!?!?! Your going to give it to people of questionable moral fibre???????

You say many words, but I think you just mean to say "Knack"

I thank Sony for the wonderful and fitting slogan for this thread.

Yes, that slogan will raise up underachievers everywhere and put them on even footing with the real people of greatness (aka communism).

:P. I kid (your avatar pic gave me that inspiration).
