Forums - Gaming - Unsung Story: Tales of the Guardian - Spiritual Successor to Final Fantasy Tactics Kickstarter

So I've found this Kickstarter project via an article yesterday on Kotaku. From what I've read, it looks to be a successor to FFT, a very well received game. Unfortunately the Kickstarter is almost over and the project is not yet funded. I put this all down to poor marketing as yesterday was the first time I've ever heard of it.

Here is a summary of what Unsung Story is:

Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians is the spiritual successor in a storied line of epic tactical RPGs designed by Yasumi Matsuno. Playdek is excited to be partnering with one of the most legendary game designers, as well as you the fans, to bring out a refreshing, immersive new take on the tactics genre.

In the hands of the veteran tactical RPG master himself, Unsung Story will re-imagine a classic game genre, as Yasumi Matsuno weaves together one of the complex and rich game worlds that he is known for, with inspiring class based tactics game play.

I would personally love to see a PSV version of it but that may not be possible considering the fact that it would require an extra 500k over the next 2 days. Besides that, I think it's a  Kickstarter worth investing into especially for JRPG fans. If the Kickstarter goal is achieved, you'll be getting the game on PC/Mac/Linux.

For those who wish to back the project, here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/482445197/unsung-story-tale-of-the-guardians/

First I have heard of this, shame it looks like might just pass funding so no stretch goals like a PSV or PS4 version at this rate.

I was excited enough at first to make a pledge just because of Matsuno's involvement, but I ended up pulling it because this has proven to be one of the more poorly thought out Kickstarters of any prominence. They really should have had something to show, but it all seems purely conceptual at this point. Only after languishing in the 400k range for a couple of weeks did they even bother to squeeze out a few pieces of concept art to explain the battle system.

They also seem to be asking for a ridiculously high sum since the mobile and PC versions of the game are apparently getting made with or without this Kickstarter.

I was certain from the very beginning this isn't going to reach Vita goal, should be right in the 600k before the deadline.
Can't Sony at some time help funding this ?

I actually pledged $80 a couple of weeks ago.

Theres no need to worry however. The developers have confirmed the project will go ahead for the MAC and Window's systems I believe.

Its almost over, so its unlikely they can meet the stretch goals, but at this point the game will be made regardless of whether the 0.6 mil sum is met, they have enough to launch the game for the basic platforms.

I had pledged 80 after they dropped the vita version.

will probably drop my pledge as it won't happen now.

They've confirmed they will make the game for the basic platforms they proposed, which I believe was PC. PS Vita version, I personally don't think it will be made, but hopefully they do get round to it eventually.

Its a shame. I hope they can make it, but its looking dire.

It would've been a great game to play on the Vita. I think they set the goal too high at 600k.

Ya it will com3 out for those.  They also said paypal will open after so they might reach the goals.

About 70k to go to the 600k number.  It would ne nice and vita would have been a great place for this game.  Here's hopin.  Ill leave my pledge.

36 hours to go and 41k to go.

At the current pace they might do it! Hope they do! This game has Vita written all over it.

I think the last update they had with the game mechanics was something they should have made at the start. I think people are more willing to support now that they have a clear picture of what the game will be.
