Hmm, looking at Wikipedia, it seems it was both, specifically for online it was the online store so you could download DSiware off the internet. But yes, better cameras would be fantastic. They could follow it up with a game that worked best with better cameras, perhaps something that did a little more with the AR cards, or some other Augmented Reality game or functionality.

The original 3DS is almost as slim as the DS lite, so I don't see that happening, maybe the answer is 3dsi or 3ds pro with the dual analog sticks (Delfite's idea).

The XL and 2DS don't need revisions. They're fine the way they are.

The standard muffin-top 3DS, however, would benefit greatly from a redesign. Basically release a 3DS in a DSi's body (sleek design, matte finish, better buttons, better battery life) coupled with a price drop to $149 and discontinue the current model.

That would definitely make me instantly buy one.

If they're smart now, they won't release another incremental upgrade to the 3DS to confuse the common man,  they'd rather wait for the next generation to release new hardware.

But I can see them lowering the prices down the line, especially for 2DS when it still will be profitable. That's really important for such an entry-level device.

So far, Nintendo has launched a new 3DS model every year since it's release, and I see no reason to doubt that trend will continue. We'll see two or three more models, I think.
