Forums - Nintendo - What are your thought's on this Gamepad thing for the Nintendo Wii U?

I live alone and I have three HD TVs so I don't really need off screen play. And I still love it. It's a vital part of my existence, now.

there would be one big problem if they sell the wii u without the gamepad. What should they do with the games which are already available ? You can not play ZombiU without the gamepad. There would be no inventory. you could not play all games in Wii Party U. no I think the gamepad is a good Idea, nintendo just needs games which can show the potential

Off TV play is awesome, but I have no need for it except the fact I prefer gaming on a handheld and doing so feels the same. Otherwise it has been pointless really. There has been no game I've played that required it, everything displayed on the gamepad could easily be on the TV and a lot of the time actually is. Hopefully Nintendo will eventually make an awesome game that uses it otherwise it will end up being a controller that added little value to the WiiU but added lot of price. That cant be good for sales

there is a lot of hate for new things as it makes traditionalists insecure about what the future holds for something they like the way it is without even considering how much better things might get with a little change. people like to pause the game to pick items or look at the map instead of instant access to those things instantly.

they also don't like off-screen game play or 5 players local mp or isometric game play or motion and that the two nipples are now in the same position on each side of the controller.

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I love it! There are days when I just wake up from a Jizztastic night and want to play a Nintendo game without getting up from my bed and the wiiU gamepad makes it possible which is awesome!! Also, the IR blaster on the wiiU gamepad rules cause I can control all the TVs with ease and not have to worry about an HDMI connection in order to control them.

The gamepad also has its own built in sensor bar so if I am ever in the washroom and want to play a wii game, I can do so too. It is also the first tablet where it actually feels comfortable to play with unlike every other tablet where it just feels like ass playing games... The web browser is also awesome and etc

But I think the reason why people don't like it isn't cause its a bad device, its cause it increases the price of the overall console without anything that revolutionary... Its nice to have but at the cost of power and price, if the wiiU costed $400 and it was as powerful as the ps4 with the same architecture and it had that gamepad too, I think it would be no contest in terms of hardware

I was hoping your sig would be clickable.

now it is ^^

I love everything about the gamepad. Off tv for big retail games, eshop and VC are all very fun on the pad, I'd say I game 65/35 pad to tv ratio.

its just a shame the pad had to come at the expense of console power. That's why I believe in the evolution of "Nintendo Fusion", they will have the gamepad (next gen handheld) independent of the console, which also allows Ninty to make a competitive spec machine (if they choose). It started with Wii U, then Vita/PS4 and Fusion will perfect the experience. Nintendo has to entice their big handheld audience to a "graduation" product/console, they can't allow these DS/3DS fans to move on to Sony/MS.

I just hope Ninty doesn't see the gamepad as the reason for the U's failure thus far. Just like with gamecube, Ninty assumed power didn't help them vs PS2/Xbox when it was actually the fisher price image and lack of DVD playback.

I love the gamepad! I don't have problems with other people wanting to use the tv as there are 4 HD flatscreens in my house. But I still use the gamepad for off tv play a lot. The screen is perfect for playing VC games.

I know a lot of people have complained about the signal length, I may be one of the very few that can take my gamepad about thirty five feet away through two walls and still play it just fine. I suspect it has something to do with position/placement of my wi-fi router.

I don't think nintendo should give up on the gamepad, if anything they should improve it. I will say they have awesome analog sticks. I have been heavily using this gamepad for over a year and the analog sticks are still in top shape. I hate the rattling of buttons when you shake the gamepad though. And they need to make the shoulder buttons better, maybe put a light clicking mechanism, the buttons are so easy to push down I end up accidentally pressing it all the time. And not having analog triggers is a mistake, that is my biggest gripe about the gamepad.

Sure, ignore reality while the console you clearly adore has a very premature death. No one wants the console at this price, and the controller is the only reason why it's so high.

The tablet controller is a gimmick, some love it, others couldn't care less about it. And it's one of main reasons (among many other), why the console is not selling.
