Some of you don't seem to understand some basics. Sony might be fucked, but Not PS. Whatever happens to Sony PS will live on, its future is quite bright. If its sold or span of, PS will rock on and continue the PS4 domination.

They are selling of PC right ? and spun of TV right ? So PS is not going to just dissapear, especially since its profiting already 3 months after a freaking console launch.

I like Sony, but a Google Apple Samsung Hitachi owned PS i giggle about. But Im most excited about an independent SCE PS brand, they been covering Sony fuck ups for far to long. About time they get to invest their profits into them self's not flush em down Sonys crapper.

You may well be right. The Playstation brand is too ingrained and popular for some other company not to buy it if Sony fails. However, it WON'T be the same, things will change in a big way if that were to happen.

And regardless, there is no ignoring the fact that Sony has not ever made a shit-ton of real profit off of the Playstation brand. Maybe the games, but certainly not their consoles. They lost money hand over fist for years with both PS2 and PS3, because they were using them to specifically push new tech in DVDs and Blu-Ray. PS3 was ridiculously overpriced at launch, and remained overpriced for years, as a gaming machine that is, yet because of the still-new Blu-Ray tech alone , not to mention the "doesn't need to be nearly this powerful" hardware, every system sold was STILL losing money probably up until even 2010 or beyond. It isn't merely a case of Sony's other divisions losing money but their games division is doing fine. The PS brand may be successful, but that doesn't always equal big profit. There are plenty of variables, and in Sony's case, they haven't seen THAT big a return from those investments. The Playstation brand will live on, I believe you're right. But that hardly means that Sony as a company isn't possibly very fucked. Whereas Nintendo is far, far from fucked.

And that, after all, was the point (question) of this thread.

over 11 billion is pretty good in my view. Look no one is saying Nintendo is performing great today, the question is which is in a worse position? And anyone who looks at this objectively and honestly will say one thing: Sony.

and you didn't have to tell me I was right about Nintendo having billions before the wii, I knew I was right. Nintendo is a pretty smart company when it come to making money. Nintendo sells 32 million n64's and made tons of cash, 22 million gamecubes and made tons of cash, if Sony ever has a console that sells those numbers, stick a fork in em, they're done. Hell, 80 million ps3's and Sony couldn't make a dime. You do the math, the answers are and have been in front of you all along.

So, which is it? $11B or $8.6B?

Anyway, you're missing the point - Nintendo have nowhere to go with their products. They're dead in the console space. 3DS sales peaked in 2012. And you're forgetting that during those N64 and GC times, they were making profits on every system sold. They're can't really do that now with the WiiU. Not to mention that way less WiiU games are being sold now than N64 or GC ones back then.

Unless Nintendo comes up with something radically different, they're on their way down.

And no one said that Sony didn't make a blunder with the PS3 but look at the PS4 - simple changes that turned their gaming business around.

I have no idea what you're talking about but, YOU are the one who came with 5.5 and 8.6 billion, I never said that. They have over 11 billion so that's the end of that.

The 3ds sold the most this year (2013) than all other years. 2012 was around 14.1 million and 2013 was 14.9 million. So again, that's that. And I know you will come at me again with some off the wall numbers, so, whatever.. Multiple people have attempted to show you the way it REALLY is, and you come back with something.... Well, something else. Some made up numbers.

So that's the end of this "debate". I've shown everything I've said to be true, and you still argue. So, have a good one! So whatever you're about to say, just look at my prior replies for the answer to that. /end debate.

Link to $11B please?

Nopes, less than 13M 3DS were sold in 2013 - official Nintendo numbers. No idea how you came up with 14.9M for 2013.

The ones who say Nintendo are fanboys. Nintendo is a gaming company and only that. Sony is a multi billion dollar company with lots of buildings they can sell and big money making divisions.

Nintendo is also a multi billion dollar company too. Sony has over 100 billion in debt and Nintenod has no debt. Most of their divisions lose bilions each year. Try again sweetheart.

If they go bancrupt there will be numerous investors standing by to keep up the business.

If that were to happen PS would not be anywhere near the same as they are today.  Different management and likely would have to rebuild the brand.  It would be like saying Nintendo got bought out by apple.  Sure you may get Nintendo's name but it would not be anything like the Nintendo we know today.

If PS got bought out which will happen "if" sony ever goes bankrupt  you are looking at huge changes and an uncertainty of ever having another console like Sony's PS, or games like Sony's games.

You would need the right company to buy PS.

If that does happen, & if the right company does buy the Playstation division (such as Samsung, Google, etc.), then both Nintendo & Microsoft will have even more problems on their hands. They think that Sony beating them with PS1, PS2, & now PS4 is bad enough for them, just you wait...

Sony goes bankrupt tomorrow. Nintendo goes bankrupt next week. Microsoft buys both for ultra cheap and sets out to create the ultimate gaming console. Sony makes the hardware, Nintendo supplies the games, and Microsoft works the online component. Console unity is achieved and fanboy wars end forever. The internet will finally be at peace.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

how would that be a good thing?  Go ahead and elaborate how losing the company that made the brand, most likely losing all or most talent that works on PS, along with most likely bidding off their first party studios seperately.  Besides getting a bigger budget PS is just a brand name and thats exactly what they would be purchasing.  A brand name.  What is a brand name without the people who make the brand? it wouldnt be the same PS you know today.
