Forums - Sony - Persona 3 FES or Persona 3 Portable?

So I picked up a Vita late last year and P4G was the first game I went for. Absolutely loved it!  It has become one of my favourite jrpg’s of all time, loved the battle system. This was my first time ever playing a Persona game. Now I want to get more involved in the series and planning on picking up Persona 3.

Now my question is what version is best to purchase over PSN?  I can play P3 FES on my PS3 or P3 Portable on my Vita?   Are there any differences between the two, like does the portable version have the FES add on content? Or anything to be aware of?

Persona fans, help me out here please?

No FES add on content in P3P. Doubt you could play FES on Vita, either (I don't think any PS2 classic can be played, can it?).

Overall, however, I prefer P3P. Quicker pace, better control of the battle, and female MC

Yeah your right on the PS2 games not working on the Vita. So the battle system in P3P, is that similiar to P4G?

FES is a lot longer, but P3P has a female character to play as. I'd go with P3P since the extra content in FES is rather boring. It's an extra epilogue that takes forever and isn't very fun. You can just youtube it for the story.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

If P4G offers you full control of your characters, extra moves for attacking weaknesses and so on, yes

I didn't play P4G. But I did complete P4, and it's identical to it mostly.

Hmm good idea on the youtube idea. Thanks for the info. Gonna download P3P now I believe.  :)

You should get SMT Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, or SMT4.  Get Persona 3 after those.

While we mostly agree, P3 > all of those IMO.

I'm playing Persona 3 Portable at the moment.

It's presented more as a visual novel, in that you don't really run around the school/town, you simply choose from a location and go it then enter shops/talk to people or whatever you need to do.

Dungeon crawling is exactly the same as in FES as far I can tell, third person exploring and battles.

Persona 3 Portable doesn't have the anime cutscenes that FES has.

S'up to you what you prefer, I guess. I feel like the pace is a lot quicker in Portable though since you don't really spend as much time running around.
