Forums - Gaming - How expensive is it to buy a franchise?

For example, how expensive would it be for Nintendo to buy Bomberman from Konami?

I have tried to google how much cash Microsoft had to put on the table to buy Gears of War but couldnt find any info.

Depends on the IP. Gears raked in a billion for Epic over all 4 games I think but it's story has reached a somewhat exhausted point and the sales for Gears Judgement were not all that great... for the Gears series. Still pretty good on their own though. I wouldn't expect MS to have paid more than 100 million.

An IP like bomberman would be much, much cheaper I'd think.... I have no real idea on it though.

You will not find any info. Nobody but the 2 parties involved know the exact price and stipulations.
It depends on how much the seller wants for it. So something between $1000 and a trillion.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It just depends on how much the company that owns the IP feels its worth and how in need of money they are.

Hence, Bomberman is as expensive as Konami wants it to be and there is no set price.

We should get everyone on VGC to chip in and buy Mario.
I wonder if our combined wealth would be enough.
