Forums - Gaming - Hindsight II: Which Console was REALLY more powerful? Playstation or N64

I was reading a thread a few moments ago and I saw where some people feel that the 32-Bit PS1 was more powerful than the N64.  Well, was it?  I've seen games like Gex: Enter the Gecko with virtually no draw distance on the N64 and I've seen games like Wave Race that did things that were never equalled (not even by Crash Bandicoot: Warped so shut up.) when it comes to effects.  So I now turn to you, the VGChartz community.  Let's end the debate once and for all.  N64 vs. PS1 for the WWE Championship.

Fight!!

No it wasn't.

N64 had better hardware than PS or Saturn... you can clearly see that on the flaship games for the console... 3D graphics was in a generation ahead.

CD'S>Cartridge

so

PS1>N64

imho

In space yes... PS used a lot FMV in the games.

But cartridge had the biggest advantage over CD... no load times.

The N64 really was the PS3 of the generation.

More powerful, but hardware (bottlenecks everywhere, super limited ram,Cartridges) and software(not giving developers access to everything and poor documentation) faults made it "very" hard to extract the edge over the competition.

...overall, the N64 wins...

Edit: I mean, just look at the best efforts by Rare , PSX games could look great too, but they weren´t just quite on the same level as ...say...Conker´s Bad fur day

Did you even read the  OP ? It is about hardware power

"some people feel that the 32-Bit PS1 was more powerful than the N64.  Well, was it?"

...this isn´t about storage space and shoving nice videos in someone´s face, it is about polygon pushing abilites !

How many how fast and how much textures you can show at once.

The N64 wins.

So based on that thinkology N64 is still better than PC because Cartridge.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh K buddy you got me. Have a nice one. :)

No contest, N64 games looked significantly better.
