I believe people gets too influenced because of hype and reviews nowadays to the point that most people don't even have a real own opinion. They don't play the actual game - They play the game the reviewers and the hype want it to be.

Do you think these kind of things are ruining people's personal opinion? Do you even care about what someone else says about a certain game? Personally, I try to ignore reviewers most of the time. 

Oh! And before you answer, please consider this: Have you ever acquired a game that you had no idea it even existed or a popular game that you completely overlooked and then ejoyed the f*ck out of it? I never knew much about Alan Wake; didn't read reviews, didn't hear anyone talking about it, but I got it for $3 on a Steam sale and really fell in love with it. L.A. Noire was also a game I knew very little about, I downloaded it in, like, June last year on Xbox Live on a sale. It was a really great and unique experience for me since I've neved played anything similar... But then everyone on the internet seemed to hate it.

So, what you think?

Reviews are other people open opinion about a game.The best thing you could do is try to get your own opinion about a game by renting it or playing the demo. I like RE 6 and DMC. Two games that are abominations to a lot of core fans.

No. I've found that hype and reviews have zero effect on how much I enjoy a game

Edit: I've thought of an example of where postivie reviews and hype made me try a game I previously didn't like, but not one that "corrupted my opinion".

When I first played Street Fighter 4, I absolutely hated it because it was such a huge departure from Street Fighter Third Strike. I read some articles about how it revived the fighting game genre so I gave it another chance and it ended up being my most played game of last gen.

Yes and no... I used to get influenced by the hype till I made my first big Mistake which was Duke Nukem Forever... After that, I no longer buy Gearbox products and double check the things that I buy and it seems to work... Everyone was hyping over Alines:CM but since it was made by Gearbox, I didn't pre-order it and oh look, it was shit

In recent memory, I've been more oftenly burned by not listening to reviews. There's a litany of (typically cheap, small) titles that I should've did more research on before purchasing them. So even if my opinion is "corrupted", I'll put stock in reviews because (now) I place a high value on my time and money and will avoid gambling it away as much as possible. I've learned my lesson.

As for whether other people's opinions ever make me change my mind about a game I enjoyed... nope. Just because certain aspects in certain games ruin the fun for some, doesn't mean my own enjoyment was irreversibly compromised. I'll happily admit that my favorite games aren't for everyone and each have their own niggling problems which, on occasion, even frustrate me. However, I will defend a game I like if I feel as if someone has made an incorrect statement or appears to be missing the point.
