I don't think this means what people think it does. Notice he specifically talks about the quality of life stuff right before bringing up mergers/acquisitions. Also notice he mentions "entertainment" and not specifically Nintendo as a gaming company any more.
I think that means they are looking at business diversification, such as buying in with a fitness company for example or perhaps purchasing a movie/TV studio for licensing purposes. Or say a toy company. Stuff like that.
I don't think they really have any interest in any Japanese 3rd party.
