Forums - Sony - I for one do not want another god of war

Never bothered to play God of War, so that's fine by me.

I thought they were going to make a new game based on Norse mythology next...? Y'know, Thor and stuff. Probably a rumour, I dunno.

i'd throw up.

Why? Because of those recent movies?

Mostly yes, i hate those comic book movies and characters, batman, superman, thor, captain america, hawkeye all of them, dispise them all.

I'd love another if they reboot the series... Otherwise, only interested in how the graphics look on PS4/Vita.

If you ask me, they should pull a Final Fantasy/Zelda and start changing the setting and characters each gen, with the core gameplay remaining similar but still having significant gimmicks to set them apart.

Well if they were to make a new GOW game with Thor (or other Norse mythological characters), I'm sure they'd make sure to distance themselves from those movies in every way possible. :P

Kratos' story is over, although GoW3's not-conclusive ending was kinda bullshit. They should solve that with some kind of DLC, not a full game.

And then make a new game with a different protagonist and mythology. I'm fairly sure that's what they're gonna do next, although Kratos is pretty recognizable at this point, so it's hard to put a different protagonist.

It's one of my favorite series, but I do not want another game right now. I can wait, and I think they can too after Ascension's sales and lack of hype. But I'm pretty sure Santa Monica's unknown PS4 game is a new IP.

god of war's gameplay is still amazingly fun.

...but ascension proves that the storyline is basically bankrupt. zezus is dead, there's really no where left to go.

i think santa monica should stick to the genre but base it on new IP. a new IP would give them a lot more creative freedom (don't need to cater to any of the existing mechanics simply out of nostalgia) and give them a chance to make something truly spectacular. ..to truly move the genre forward.

that would be amazing. i would love a hack and slash game in an Sci-Fi setting, where monsters/beasts/enemies would all be drived from that alien sci-fi setting.

yeah, i dunno about the sci-fi setting.

i mean, i generally love sci-fi.  and science fiction does have the advantage of "anything goes" with respect to mechanics because "its teh fuchar1" and you're not bound to any of the pesky reality.  however, destiny is sci-fi.  titanfall is sci-fi.  killzone is sci-fi.  watch dogs is sci-fi-ish. the order 1887 is victorian but with steampunked sci-fi twists.  i've already come to the conclusion that that gen's "gritty military" is this gen's "sci-fi enhanced".

i'm thinking something more along the lines of witches, vampires, werewolves, and undead.   it might be a bit close to castlevania but that franchise is kind of dead.  deadish at least.  santa monica could do to castlevania what naughty dog did to tomb raider.  steal the genre/setting right out from under them but making it fresh again.

i wouldnt mind that either

Well, I can agree with that.

To me ie depends if David Jaffe is on board to keep this thing in order, I think you could see the point where he left the team in GoW 3, the game was less interesting in the last part...

Then GoW Ascension is just ridiculous with the invisible walls to prevent you from jumping in cliffs and the camera panning out all the time... I just got bored.

So either Jaffe comes back or kill the series (maybe even re-use the studio's artistic and technical talents with a game designer that can direct them properly).
