His bet was Pokemon XY would never sell 12mil Lifetime. Ever since VGC failed at that FW 5.5Mil copies sold (it was actually just 4mil) he's been on a roll stating pokemon sales are Overtracked in every region!
But in reality its been undertracked in Europe and especially other countries (Australia for Example). 9.37mil as of Jan 11th and this shows 11.6mil by dec 31st? So definitely 1.8mil-2.2mil undertracked! (My guess about 500k-700k is digital)
Wait a minute, we're always hearing from some Nintendo fans that digital sales are amazing, but not in this case? Shipped + Digital looks like it isn't undertracked that much.

XY only sold around 25k or 75k? "it was around there.. i think" units in japan digitally.. how much do you expect it to do worldwide?
This game is easily 1.5m+ undertracked, especially considering the 11.6m was as of last year.

I keep hearing from Nintendo fans and Nintendo themselves how digital sales are thriving and rising YoY but curiously doesn't apply to pokemon?

it doesn't have that many digital sales unles Europe has 1mil+. In US its currently under 200k and japan (according to Famitsu) has shown digital sales are terrible. Its undertracked by alot. About 2mil including digital. But no way in hell Digital sales are even close to 800k WW

Well, it really depends on the title. Monster hunter did massive numbers digitally, over 250k+ in japan alone, but there really isn't any evidence to prove that XY is having the same effect, i mean if it sold around 25k-80k in japan digitally, how much do you expect the worldwide numbers to be? 200k tops?

They are dead wrong (in pokemon case) digital sales arent good. Its undertracked by alot. Imo its Europe+ Rest of the World thats very undertracked as US is only off by about 300-350k. (Japan is spot on thanks to Famitsu+Media)

oh... Thought you meant it was unddertracked by just about 100k-200k US only off by about 300k (includes digital) but yes Europe and especially Australia. XY hit a record there (100k+ FW biggest video FW ever supposedly). Its off by at LEAST 1mil.
Digital sales in both Japan+US doesn't even surpass 300k (biggest markets) so i doubt digital sales are over even 600k WW
