As a owner of only one console, Gears of War was basically the only franchise on the 360 that i would have really liked to play last gen.

it seems that it runs its course and needed to be put down, which isnt really a bad thing. same happened to GoW, it just finished and needs to stay that way. great games and franchises dont need to be milked until they dont sell. just let them be and maybe one day in like 10 or 15 years you could do a reboot.

Well not exactly. Judgement wasn't all that great. Made by a studio that wasn't epic and didn't have the "magic" that 1-3 had.

Now we hear it is under MS direct control....and cash flow. They want to make this a story-driven IP, something many critics pointed out with the IP in the past as a weakness (though I thought it was decent enough).

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I for one welcome this news. Like Halo 4, MS seems invested in emotionally driven stories. I can definitely get behind a Gears game with a impactful story.

I don't see its story being a selling point. Multiplayer will be great as usual, though i wonder how they will take a go at the story this time.
