Peaked my interest

They must be expecting a huge spike in Vita sales between now and June.
Or... he just thinks his game is bigger than it really is.
I think shooting for 1 million is a tad bit high (especially if he is talking about japan only sales).

Indeed. With Freedom Wars they can actually hope to sell the game to a much much broader audience, specially in Japan. Can't see it moving many units outside of Asia, though.

I think it'll be lucky to have gotten ~ 50k digital sales. In 2010, the PSP really wasn't pushing the bigger digital percentages that 3DS/Vita are now. Is it even listed on Japanese PSN? |
I always take a look here weekly jap psn digital top 10...

It's nice to have big expectations, but it's even nicer to have realistic expectations. I'd love for the game to sell 1m; I just see it being an incredible uphill struggle given the userbase and the fact that only one game has made it so far. |
0.7M without counting digital and only released in Japan? Seems doable for Freedom Wars if it releases worldwide.
Really, it's just a Japanese developer being overly excited pre-release. It's PR, they do it all the time. It doesn't even mean he actually thinks it will happen.
Lifetime, it might have a shot, IF Sony pulls out all the stops and follows through with a high-octane advertising campaign. It does have a really nifty aesthetic going and the story seems cool. The Hunter genres is Japan's version of the FPS genre in the west so you never know.

I have to see Japan sales first. They are probably aiming too high, but still I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
