if it's sub HD sure

It will be 240p because Wii U has no powa

Worse, because Nintendo downgraded the graphics hardware of the Wii U a bit of time after showing off this demo for heat dissipation and price considerations.

Skyword Sword looks fantastic and Twilight Princess is hands down the ugliest Zelda of them all, the visuals didn´t age well at all.
The N64 games are still decent in their abstract blocky-ness .

With that said: I´d want the next Zelda to be a bit more realistic too, WW HD and SS both were toony/ very colourful ...so it might be a nice change of pace.

Edit: Oh, about the graphics, (polygons and textures) will look around the same level, I expect them to go with a different artstyle though.

Wrong.

They upped both (CPU ans GPU)clock speeds before they WiiU was released and the Demo was running on the old 400MHZ GPU

The NeoGaf thread you are probably refering to was just based on dumb speculation and Shin´en confirmed that the WiiU devciits got more powerful over time.

I thought I was the only one with this opinion. :)

OT: I'm kinda hoping for the next game to have a slightly more realistic/serious look than SS - especially when it comes to enemy design, but I still want it to be cel shaded. I think there's a lot of potential with that style. Some of the most beautiful, unique titles have been cel shaded, and I'd love to see what Nintendo could do with that look on the new hardware.

I'd also like for the game to have a more varied look to it - not exactly for it to simply be "darker," but for many of the dungeons to be really dark, gritty, and somewhat scary, but for the towns and whatnot to have a more cheery look to them. That's kinda the feel that OOT's first half gave me. I think WW accomplished that pretty well on some occasions, but the toony artstyle sorta softened everything a bit too much.

A tech demo should show what the console is able to do and that doesn't mean that the developers have use this power. So I would say it is worse. BUT at this time they did not know how they can get all out of the Wii U. So they improved the way of programming that's why it can look better than the demo. But I'm not sure and that's why I decided to click on 'same' :D

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

I just wish they would stop trying to 'surprise' us with art styles. How about you 'surprise' us with an amazing game?

It's true of the mainstream gaming audience, the ones who shunned Wind Waker but swarmed to Twilight Princess.

I shouldn't respond to this, because I shouldn't have to. I know you're not ignorant, and I want to believe that you consciously realize how faulty your implication is. But here I am.

Twilight Princess was released on two platforms with an ecosystem of 120+ million systems. Wind Waker was released on one platform with an ecosystem of 21+ million. I'm more inclined to believe that the mainstream gamer is more likely to buy a game on a more mainstream platform. Not some crap about collective art design preferences.

Skyward Sword's lackluster sales on the most successful platform of the decade say hi.

In the last sixteen years, Mainstream Zelda hits are realistic for their platforms. Ocarina, Twilight Princess. Experiments with whimsy have been sales disappointments. While charming in a unique way, they do not appeal to the masses in the same way that the realisticly rendered ones do. That's just a fact. You can appreciate the art style more - and heck, the idea of 3D promo art from ALBW seems appealing to me too - but that doesn't mean it would be the best move from a sales perspective. The market has shown every time since 1998 that going with the least cartoony style is what makes Zelda a mainstream sales success.

Still faulty. Skyward Sword's sales can be pinned on the the fact that it requires a peripheral, restricitng its potential install base by tens of millions less than TP, and the state of the Wii in late 2011. A very similar situation to Majora's Mask back in 2000. It also doesn't feature the same art design as Wind Waker, which is what we're discussing here.

The idea that Wind Waker wasn't a mainstream hit is... rather odd. As I said before, if the game only sold to hardcore Nintendo fans, it wouldn't have come close to selling what it did. It wasn't rejected by the market. The GameCube, however...

I think it will look better, but it'll have a different art style for sure. Aonuma's hinted at that.

How it will end up looking I don't know, but personally I'd appreciate a sort-of-cartoony look, but with a somewhat darker, grittier style. Sharp contrasts, deep shadows, bright colours. Not like WW (they've done that now), nor SS (which to me looked a bit too generic, with low-res textures and subdued, washed-out colours).

Something along the lines of Majora's Mask's artwork, only updated and stylized for the 8th gen.
