DKCR

But why? What did it do better than the SNES games iyo?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I finished DKC and DKCR. Out of those two the clear winner is DKC, it's one of my favourite games of all time! I remember playing it on the Game Boy Color. I spent hours upon hours on that game. I found it was hard as fuck too!

I had the game Donkey Kong Land for GB, loved that one too lol. But I agree with you, though I would recommend DKC2, was also a great game.

In my opinion, Donkey Kong Country Returns managed to outshine the original SNES game. The incredible variety of the levels and the fantastic K levels are what helped it surpass it's predecessor.

Too bad Nintendo removed it from the VC. Guess I'll have to go and emualate it on the Wii .

DKCR definitely had excellent level design and great variety. But Pound for pound, taking gens into account here, I feel the Original (and 2) were more breathtaking for their time than DCKR was for its time. But I see where you are coming from.

Of the original three, I love DKC2 and DKC3 equally...
They're quite possibly my favorite platformers ever...
The original is very good as well...
I may just love DKCR3D as much as DKC2/3...
Let me just say now that I don't get all the hate DKC3 gets...

Have a nice day...

I would go with DKCR3D as had same great levels and game play minus some of the motion control stuff that I was not a fan of.

Interesting choice, but you have played the SNES games as well? If you did, did you play them when they were first released or later on on the VC?

I played them on the SNES in the mid 90s. They were visually mind blowing at the time, and of those three the second was my favorite. I just think Retro captured everything Rare did right and built on it.

i enjoyed the DKC trilogy a lot, but the game themselves weren't really all that IMO, of course they were graphical miracles (32-bit graphics on a 16-bit console and everything) but gameplay-wise/artistically they didn't do anything to outshine the milllion platformers that were around back then, DKCR was almost the opposite, while it was not all that graphically intensive (because, you know, Wii ^^) it had a pretty charming art style and refined enviorment/gameplay, and it released in a time where platformers were weak.

Donkey Kong Country is no doubt a terrific game. As a reference, DKC is at no 25 on my all-time favorite games and DKCR ranks 17th.

Easily DKC2. So much depth and replay value. Better than the first one in every way. It also has one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. DKC3 didn't improve, and wasn't as enjoyable.
Jungle Beat was really great too (on Wii), but was nowhere near as deep as the SNES games. DKCR was wonderful, and I'm sure Tropical Freeze will be even better.
