Tone.

Tone can change how your posts are perceived by others and that includes mods and admins.

If you wish to proclaim something negative in a manner that will instigate retaliatory comments and derail a thread after you've already been warned about posting in the Nintendo forums, you should prepare for moderator action.

You were not only warned but apparently continued doing what you were warned about. And you wonder why a ban was issued?

Tone. Learn the value of pleasantly toned discourse and you can make your opinions known anywhere with little to no consequences.

So what I should have written to be more PC is the following then:

"I would like to respectfully disagree about certain statements that certain titles of a certain console will lead to improved volume of sales and rescue said console from its precarius situation. That said, I personally and by no means absolutely proclaim that I believe that a certain console is struggling and will likely not recover from dwindling sales this year."

How's that for tone? Derp.

Derp?  Well, I suppose that addresses it all, doesn't it?

I tried to give you advice.  You derp'ed.

I think there's some overmodding. I recall the thread about the Wii being a fad. Well myself and a few others started threads about SNES/PS2/etc. being fads (mostly for laughs) and all of these threads were locked without any explanation provided. The mods don't seem to have a sense of humor about things.

While I don't know the exact reason those threads were locked, the one I saw (I believe it was the PS2 one) was nothing but a baseless retaliation thread that would have done nothing but caused arguments. If an actual argument had been present in the OP, maybe it wouldn't have been locked.

The same people who thought Mario World and W101 would save the Wii U believe MK8 and Smash will. What's so unreasonable about calling out that prediction as naive? The Wii U is trending downward as a matter of undisputed fact based on sales data comparing it to other Nintendo consoles. Many people including myself believe it will fail. How is that not a sound conjecture?

Lastly, I'm not criticizing anyone's choice. I'm critizing people who think that MK8 and Smash will save it because I keep seeing these comments over and over. It boggles my mind and therefore I called them out on it.

There was no trolling or flaming. MK8 and Smash will NOT save the Wii U, and you can quote me on that in the future.

Actually, it would be trolling, because you're attempting to incite a reaction.

You're criticising their opinion, thereby extension their choice.  If a thread is about a console you're not invested in, why share an opinion that others may not agree with?  What is the point?  It's completely unncessary.

Trending down doesn't mean it will continue down.  There is nothing that says the console is dead and that development will cease for it.  Just your opinion and maybe the opinion of some equally trollish bloggers.  When it's dead, you can say it's dead.  Until then, it's not dead.  That's the bottom line.

So again, essentially telling people, "You can't have this conversation because I believe your console of choice is dead and doesn't deserve continued support," amounts to a whole lot of immaturity and arrogance on your part.

The bottomline is, those people who engaged in having that conversation, don't give a rats ass what you fucking opinion is.  You don't need to share it because you believe you're smart.  It isn't relevant to their topic.  They're not having the "Wii U is dead" conversation.
