Forums - Sales - NPD - Xbox One YTD 2013: 4.8M retail games vs. 4.2M for PS4

Wow the numbers haven't been so even in 8 years, holy crap ps4 is crushing it.
xb1 is doing surprisingly well too. I'm almost shocked at how well it is doing in USA with that pricetag being the same as ps3 launch price.
Are xbox fans rich or something?

Looks like Greenberg didn't include Limited Edition sales, because creamsugar has Forza 5 over 500K: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=97420310&postcount=2664

I can only blame carl and kowen, for thinking that they could have an proper discussion with ethomaz -.-

His bias and spin-off abilities are off the chartz, eh, get it?

OT: Very interesting information. But, launch periods are poor parameters to judge the long term.

Lol hell no. I had it and held out on buying any games except Killer Instinct at 1st. Extra controller and ignorant MS making the controller battery enabled smh.

Interesting, so X1 has a higher attach rate. Perhaps its because more casuals are getting the PS4 and going with the hype whereas more hardcore gamers are buying the X1.

For me (saying for me because the guys are really pissed about nothing) the reason is other like I explaneid before.

Yes, Xbone sold more on retail than PS4... it is pretty clear but why?

Because Xbone had more retail exclusives (5 games) that sold together 1.5m units vs PS4 exclusives (2 games) that sold 600k together... 3rd-party games sold more on PS4.

So what that means? That the casuals / hardcore thinking is out of question right now... the real reason was because Xbone had more game at retail.

This is pretty clear.

I'm not denying the attach rate, sales or anything else.

Well, they didnt have to buy the 5 exclusives. It says something that they did though. More could have and shoyld have¿¿ bought those two.

Well, having a job and having money put away for months helps. But no, we're not rich. I've been saying since the price was announced that it wouldn't sway people away from buying it. US is known for spending $500-$700 easily for new products. Just look at iPads and iPhones.

lol @ ethomaz spinning.

Anyway, nice sales for Xbone. It certainly has a superior library to the PS4 IMHO. Even discounting GOTG Titanfall.

It's really simple :

Early adopters are the majority of current console owners. The 'hardcore' fans if you will. Exclusive titles are usually the ones that get the most hype and become the focus of fans and are also the showcase games.

The only tangible difference between PS4 and Xbox One at launch was that the Xbox One had about (3) titles that I would consider to be 'solid' 'semi-hyped' titles available for purchase (DeadRising 3, Forza, Ryse ). The PS4 on the other hand had Killzone Shadowfall, Knack and one of the better games is free (Resogun). Knack in my opinion is the worst of the whole lot of games almost making it irrelevant.

The PS4 has the higher attach ratio if you're looking for signs in areas that matter pointing to future trends (3rd Party Sales). I'll be astonished if the Xbox One holds a higher attach rate in any aspect by the time Summer hits. (Especially since they really don't seem to have nearly as much as the PS4 in the pipeline in the next year).

Xbox is the brand with bigger sw rate since the first one. Wouldn't surprise me if this happens this generation too.

funny enough when we used to have the attach rates on here. xbox was behind the ps2 in all regions.  However it had a better WW attach rate because xbox had so much more of it's sales in the US
