Yes, the game features 2-player co-op.
This game looks amazing. For as much as I have heard about Wii U being such a weak console, graphics like this lead me to think it's less about size, more about how it's used.

Games almost always look better on a good HDTV than as a screenshot on a monitor.
Screenshots don't show that sexy 60fps either. ;)

Not really, unless you have a enormous screen or sit too close.
If you have them, play Mario 3D World (720p) and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Wii U (1080p) that should give you an idea of the difference.
