If anything, the service will prevent you from second hand purchasing a PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP.

I doubt Sony will release PS4 and Vita games on the service, and if they do that will be the end of Playstation, dont think they are that stupid :P.

Well, I doubt they are gonna stream ps4 games but if you don't care much for Sony ps4 games and have an x1, then yea, you don't really need a ps4 but if you do care for Sony games and don't have an x1, then you might still want to get a ps4 cause of both the first party and third party next gen games...

Playstation Now is interesting, thats for sure... Being able to play games such has Last of Us and Ni No Kuni on my smartphone/tablet is a really nice treat... I think its a smart move for Sony cause there is no way it will be available on an X1 or wiiU... but we will see how it goes

Coff, coff, coff...

We are also currently considering measures to offer original PlayStation, PS2 and PS4 titles in the future, but at this time, only PS3 titles are being offered.

Who could imagine that... oh, wait, I did it!

Their profit come from the games, and some of their hardware are really expensive even sold at loss. I think that they really want get rid off the playstation hardware. They even said that they want to do the trasition for next step of gaming.

They make profit of hardware eventually and many of there first party titles don't make money, theyve said that thmeselves. They make their money of third party games and if they have no playstation console then sony would probably bail on the games industry.

I really don't know but for me, it waters the PS experience down. If I can play PS games on my phone, then owning a PS system seems kind of, I don't know...there's just something less special about owning a real console.

I think they're spot on with the tech but you shouldn't be whoring out your IP like this.

Why not?

I think the view from their side must be, better risk loosing some console sales and keeping some customers on any hardware (keep in mind, they had phones that ran PS1 games too... so they're open to become platform agnostic).

They could go even further and port their PS4 APIs and store to windows and make their own platform, like steam, run natively on PCs (depending how thightly integrated it is to the underlying hardware).

Yet, if you care for image quality at all, PSNow will not satisfly you, try looking at some videos of your favorite games on youtube or twitch by example, the quality is horrible and if the game is 60fps you loose half the frames... it really breaks some of them completely, I am personally not interested in it, not the least bit!

I would much rather have up ports, like The Last of Us or Thomb Raider:DE on the new consoles, to run the games better than their original versions, or emulators that run the games locally, potentially upgrading the resolution at the same time, like on PC (Sony supposedly has developped one for PS4, we are just waiting to see it in action, if this is real).

Given how much money they would make if people chose to use it instead of consoles, i don't think it's stupid.

No more cost for developping the console, no more selling the consoles at loss etc

Because? Even the hottest women on the planet gets old after you've banged her a million times. Less is more in the gaming industry.

Isn't Sony's TV getting PS Now also?
