Send it out to die?
The only people who can say a ignorant thing like this are those who never saw a livestream of videogames. PS4 camera is a GREAT item for those who love to stream their games and of course it will have success because many livestream everywhere in the world.
You guys dont seem to get it.
Twitch and broadcasting live gameplay ie. streaming is probably the biggest reason why the camera was made.
The number of people streaming has sky rocketed over the last year or two. There are so many streamers getting famous through twitch nowadays as oppose to Youtube. Not to mention the massive impact popular streamers have on the uptake of new games is insane!
Sony knew exactly what they were doing with the camera. I think everything is secondary to live broadcasting. Which is why theres no big titles for the eye. I doubt we will ever get any...as this was not the reason for the eye. Streaming is
In one or two years time when we have popular streamers on PS4/Xbox One then you will know the reason for the Eye.
Edit: @bolded well there was always a camera but you get what i mean with this post :/
I don't think they've replenished camera stock since they sold on at launch. I guess they're really putting 100% manpower into making consoles.
I guess the opinions in this thread is probably due to the fact that most gamers on our forums are console gamers...and the streaming craze hasn't really hit the console scene yet. But it will.
I drove 60 miles to get one at Best Buy. It is selling better than Sony expected.
There is no way in the world Sony sent the camera out to die.
They seperated it to keep the price down.
People are buying it because it is a sophisticated unit with a lot of benefts. E.g voice and face recognition, never mind playroom.
Its a win all round so I am not suprised it is sold out.

Why on earth would you think Sony would launch a product with added functionality to PS4 if they didnt think it would be popular.
Do you have any factual statement from Sony or other reasoning to illustrate why you thought that ?

Yeah, how about the rest of my post that you cut off on the quote? lulz
If Sony thought it would be popular, they'd have had more available.
If retailers thought it would be popular or were getting demand for it, more would actually sell it.
It's just an opinion.

That's a good point, but I doubt Sony thought that far ahead. I don't think they expected the camera to catch on with streamers, hopefully now they recognize the potential and put some more weight behind it. Sony has a big advantage here as the XBO doesn't have Twitch yet and Nintendo won't even pay attention to the market
I have PS Move but I didn't get the camera. The whole streaming thing doesn't interest me and there doesn't appear to be any games that use it in any meaningful way. I wish Killzone Shadow Fall had Move support considering how well it worked with Killzone 3.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
